Weekend Fun: Art Sales, Children’s Theatre, Wine Tasting, D&D and More

Thanksgiving is not quite here, but this Saturday holiday sales are starting, and they look quite interesting. Saturday morning, you can indulge in the pleasures of beautiful pottery at the Indigo Fire Pottery sale. That afternoon, a show of local artisans is being hosted at Get Lively, and it also features Provincetown artist Joan Pereira. That looks well worth checking out. When the art show ends, there’s a free Croation wine tasting at Gordon’s Fine Wines and Liquors.

Weekend Fun: Craft Night, Irish Music, Spanish Dancing, Drawing Workshop & More

This weekend starts off with a craft night at the library maker space on Friday for the LGBTQ community. Then Saturday there’s an Irish band playing at the Ancient Order of the Hibernians that could well get you singing and dancing the night away. If you’d prefer a Latin beat, Olespana can serve up a variety of Spanish food, to be followed by dancing in the later hours. Sunday is the time for quieter activities. There’s a drawing workshop at Mt.

WEEKEND FUN: Halloween Activities, Fall Fest, Planting Party, Clothes Swap & More

Fall is here in all its glory, with plenty of outdoor festivals, Halloween activities, and even a planting party to plant a micro forest outside the Lowell School. First, on Friday, head to the library for a children’s clothing swap. You may need some fun clothes for your kids’ Halloween costumes, or a new winter coat to cover their costumes, as the temperature turns downward. Saturday afternoon, you can catch the Fall Festival at Grace Chapel in the early afternoon and then head to the Commander’s Mansion to wander through the inflatable corn maze and get spooked in the mansion. (I’m dying to see what the corn maze is like!) If you are more in the gardening frame of mind, and this is a great time to plant, head over to the Lowell School to watch or help out in the planting of the Miyawaki or micro forest.

Weekend Fun: Oktoberfest, Rosh Hashana Crafts, Block Party with Bookmobile, Cancer Ride

This fall weekend is offering an eclectic group of activities for you Watertownians. I didn’t find any local entertainment on Friday evening, so I suggest going out and enjoying one of our restaurants. There’s a new South Indian restaurant in town, Chennai Eats, on School Street. It looks delish.

Then Saturday you might want to return your overdue books to the Watetown Bookmobile at the Longfellow Rd. Block Party, or finally get yourself a library card.

Weekend Fun: Faire on the Square, New Art Exhibit, South Asian Theater, Meet John Hancock

Quickly, before the library parking lot is shut on Saturday, take your kiddos to the sing-along on Friday morning. The adults in the family could go see the beautiful art exhibit of photo-realistic paintings at the Armenian Museum of America. I love the photo they show on the website.  Saturday afternoon, many in Watertown will be heading to the Faire on the Square. It’s time to grab some free candy or swag at the booths, hang out to hear some music, and hit the rides.

Weekend Fun: Field Hockey, Films, Make Chinese Lanterns & Chinese Wrestling Demo

This Friday evening, you are either going to be very busy or you have to make some difficult choices. Because it’s early, if you aren’t working late, you can catch the Watertown field hockey game at Victory Field. All Watertownians should know that we are known statewide as having an outstanding field hockey team. Then there are two film choices, Beetlejuice and a pajama party, or the International Indian Film festival of Boston. You could don your sari for the Indian film festival or your dino pjs at the Majestic 7.

WEEKEND FUN: Makerspace Workshops, Movie Night, Music & More

Have you all heard of the Hatch Makerspace in town? This Friday afternoon they will be teaching people how to use their 3D designer software and their vinyl cutter. Maybe it’s time to get a big head start on your spring Yard Art project. Friday night the town is holding an outdoor movie night, with a family-friendly, Disney film, “Super Buddies.” (Who doesn’t love Golden Retriever puppies?) Once the kiddos are in bed, there’s some dancing to be had on Friday and Saturday evenings, a rock-cover band on Friday at the Sons of Italy Hall, and a Latin dance scene on Saturday night at Olespana.
