WHS Sports: Boys Soccer Claims Tourney Win in OT, Football Wins, Field Hockey Game Moved

Watertown’s boy’s soccer team advanced to the North Section quarterfinal after an overtime win on Monday night. The Watertown boys soccer team came from behind to defeat Weston in overtime in the first round of the Div. 3 North Section tournament on Monday night. The third-seeded Raiders went up in the first half 1-0, but the visitors tied the game with two minutes left in the first half. Weston, the 14th seed, took a second half lead, but Watertown fought back to tie the score with five minutes left in regulation.

Watertown Field Hockey Gets Top Seed in State Tournament

Senior Ally Kennedy and the Watertown field hockey team start the state tournament on Halloween. The Watertown High School field hockey team will begin its quest on Halloween to retake the state title that it had owned for nearly a decade before losing in the state semifinal in 2018. The Raiders finished the regular season 16-1, and won the Middlesex League Freedom Division. On Thursday, Watertown will host Tewksbury (7-11) in the first round of the Div. 2 North tournament.

Watertown Field Hockey Player to Play in College All-Star Game

WHS Sports: Raiders Earn Two Victories Over Belmont, Football Falls

The Raiders boys soccer team not only beat the Marauders Friday, but the 1-0 victory gave them their seventh win in a row. Junior Nicholas DiPace’s second half goal proved to be the winner for Watertown in the game played at Victory Field on Friday afternoon. The Raiders have not let in a goal in the last four games

Watertown improved to 7-2-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the Middlesex League. Field Hockey

The Watertown High School field hockey team has also gone on a long winning streak, winning eight in a row, including a 3-1 win over Belmont last Wednesday.

Watertown Football Team Looks to Return to Winning Ways in 2019

The Watertown High School football team hopes to celebrate more wins in 2019 after the team’s string of winning seasons, winning streak against Belmont, and playoff streams were broken in 2018. For the Watertown High football team in 2018, it is safe to say things did not go according to plan. Injuries to key players before the regular season even started set the tone for a year that led to a final record of 4-7. The 2018 season saw the end of many streaks the Raiders were accustomed to extending such as beating Belmont on Thanksgiving (five years in a row), making the playoffs (five straight seasons) and finishing with a winning record (nine straight years). All those streaks will have to start over in 2019.
