The Raiders made the long trip to Amesbury Friday night, and had a good start, but ended up losing 49-31 to the second seed in the Div.

Watertown Boys Hockey Beats Rockport to Book Trip to North Quarterfinals

WOBURN — Watertown’s boys hockey team struck once in each period and held Rockport/Manchester-Essex scoreless until late in MIAA Div. 3 North first round game to claim the 3-1 victory, Thursday night. Watertown senior forward Keith Ricci lead the fifth-seeded Raiders with two goals. The victory moves the Raiders to the North quarterfinals, the round where they exited the tournament last year in an overtime loss to Dracut/Tyngsboro.

Watertown Boys Basketball Team Advances in Tourney, Gives Coach His 400th Win

The Raiders rode the hot shooting of a sophomore forward to defeat Saugus 56-45 in the first round of the MIAA Div. 3 North boys basketball tournament Tuesday night and, as a bonus, gave Watertown head coach Steve Harrington his 400th career victory.

WHS Sports: Wrestlers & Track Compete in State Meets, Girls Hockey End Strong

The winter sports season headed to the postseason, and Watertown had several teams competing in state competitions. Trio of Wrestlers Compete at Divisional Meet

After a successful Div. 3 Central Section meet, Watertown sent several wrestlers to the Div. 3 Meet in Wayland. Junior Davtyan went 1-2 in the meet in the 145 pound class, winning the first consolation bracket match with a pin after falling in the first round match.

2 Watertown Basketball Teams, 1 Hockey Team Earn State Tourney Bids

Watertown senior guard Gevork Karapetyan and the Raiders got the fourth seed in the Div. 3 North Section tournament and will host a first round game. Watertown High School will have three teams in the state tournament brackets this winter, with both the boys and girls basketball teams along with the boys hockey team being seeded by the MIAA state committee on Friday. The Raiders boys basketball team took the highest seed, slotting in fourth in the Div. 3 North Section bracket.

Watertown Boys Basketball Team Looks for Good State Tourney Run, Give Coach Milestone Win

Despite losing the regular season finale, the Watertown High School boys basketball team looks poised for the State Tournament. Before the 68-42 loss to Winchester Tuesday night, the Raiders had a nine game winning streak. Watertown ended the regular season with a record of 15-6, and Head Coach Steve Harrington expects the Raiders to get a three or four seed in the MIAA Div. 3 North tournament. 

“We will get a home game and hopefully we’ll win and get a second game,” Harrington said.

Three Watertown Wrestlers Moving on After Successful Sectional Meet

Wrestlers get pointers from WHS Wrestling Coach Kevin Russo at a recent practice. The Watertown High School wrestlers hung with some of the best in the region at the MIAA Div. 3 Central Sectional Meet, with two wrestlers taking third place, and three qualifying for the Divisional Meet. Watertown finished sixth overall with 115 points at the meet at Holliston High School on Saturday. Wayland won with 248.5 points.
