Taylor Lambo Joins Watertown Girls Basketball’s Elite 1,000 Point Club

A 33 point performance in just three quarters on Saturday vaulted Watertown High School senior Taylor Lambo over the 1000-point mark in the Raiders’ victory over Weston. Lambo knew she was approaching the four-figure mark before the game in the WHS Gym, but she wasn’t given word by Watertown Girls Basketball Coach Pat Ferdinand until just before she reached 1,000. “I had talked to him about it, I wasn’t super close to it, so it wasn’t definite that I was going to hit it,” Lambo said. “He didn’t even tell me until like two points before, and he was like, ‘Your next layup is 1,000.’

Watertown Sophomore Finishes Among Top Runners at Divisional Meet

BOSTON — While just a sophomore, Watertown High School’s Anna Lonergan ran one of the fastest miles at the MIAA Div. 5 Meet at the Reggie Lewis Track Athletic Center on Friday evening. She finished sixth place at the meet where she competed against the best runners from around Massachusetts of similar size to WHS.

Three Watertown Athletes Make Globe’s All-Scholastic Teams, One Named Athlete of the Year

Charlie BreirtoseWatertown sophomore Molly Driscoll was named Div. 3 field hockey athlete of the year by the Boston Globe. A trio of Watertown Raiders earned All-Scholastic honors from the Boston Globe this fall, including one who was named the athlete of the year. Only a sophomore, Molly Driscoll, was named the top Div. 3 field hockey player by the Globe in its fall All-Scholastic teams. She helped Watertown win its first State Championship since 2017.

Upgrades to Softball Facilities Planned at O’Connell Field as Part of Hosmer School Project

The athletic fields at O’Connell Field will likely be getting some upgrades as part of the construction of the new Hosmer Elementary School, but some neighbors are concerned about the loss of green space and other issues. At Wednesday night’s School Building Committee meeting, designers presented a preliminary design for upgrades to O’Connell Field, which runs along Mt. Auburn Street in front of the Brigham House and sits next to Hosmer’s playground.

Watertown Feasts on Belmont During Shutout Win in the Thanksgiving Game

Senior Mason Andrade set the tone for Watertown by pancaking a Belmont blocker on the opening kickoff of the annual Thanksgiving Day football game. The Raiders continued to pound the Marauders all game, emerging with a 25-0 win over their rivals. Watertown improved to 7-4, winning four of their last five games, and snapped a two-game losing streak to Belmont. The game was not played last year.
