Police Log: Shoplifter with Baby Caught at Target, Xmas Lights Taken

Jan. 5, 5:42 p.m.: A shoplifter was detained at Target along with her 2-year-old child. Security saw the woman putting items in the baby carriage and try to leave the store without paying. Police found $133.58 in items from Target and $127.99 in merchandise from Carter’s.

Watertown Car Dealership Struck by Tire Thief

A nighttime thief struck a Watertown car dealership, stealing a dozen tires from trucks left on the lot. Sometime on the night of Jan. 10 or early hours of Jan. 11, a thief or thieves struck Watertown Ford on Pleasant Street, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. “Someone stole 12 tires and rims from three trucks on the property worth $1,000 to $1,200 each,” Lawn said.

Police Log: 2 Teens Caught Breaking Into Cars, OUI Bust on New Year’s

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests

Dec. 29, 6:39 p.m.: Police served a warrant on a Belmont Street resident and arrested a 47-year-old Watertown man on three warrants. Dec. 30, 3:59 a.m.: A resident reported two people breaking into cars in the area of Warren Street and Elmwood Avenue after seeing someone in his car that was parked in his driveway.

Citizen Follows Drunken Driver, Leads to Arrest

Watertown Police arrested an alleged drunken driver after an alert citizen followed the driver. 

Police received a call from a driver who was following an erratic driver on Dec. 21 at 6:02 p.m.

The driver was spotted on Arsenal Street and the citizen followed the vehicle down School Street to Mt. Auburn Street to Richards Road, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. “Officers arrived and found the vehicle parked up on the curb and blocking part of the sidewalk,” Lawn said. “The driver was asleep behind the wheel.”

Police Log: Target Catches Serial Shoplifters, Employee Caught Stealing Cash

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests

Dec. 9, 3:30 p.m.: Target security spotted three people who had been in the store the day before and took items and got away before they could stop them. They suspected the three were the same people who had been scamming Target stores around the Boston area. The were seen taking clothes and video games and went to the back of the store where they placed them into target shopping bags.

Man Robbed On Street in Watertown Square

A man reported being robbed by a stranger who approached him on the street. The man was outside the Watertown Boy’s & Girl’s Club on Whites Avenue at about 7:19 a.m. on Dec. 8 getting ready to open up the club for the swim team when a car pulled up, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. “The car parked a few spaces in front of his and a male walked in his direction and passed him,” Lawn said. “He turned around and confronted him and said ‘Give me your wallet and your money.'”

The man told the suspect that he only had $3, and gave it to the suspect.
