Car Fire Spreads to Become 2 Alarm Blaze, Damages Watertown Home

Several Watertown residents were displaced by a fire that started in a car. On Saturday, Jan. 15 at 8:15 a.m. a car fire was reported on Flint Road. A working fire was declared at 8:30 a.m.

“Upon arrival companies found a fully involved vehicle fire with extension into the home,” said the post on the Watertown Fire Department’s Facebook page. Deputy Chief Robert Iannetta ordered a second alarm for the fire, which damaged the 2.5 story two-family home.

Two-Family Home in Watertown Heavily Damaged in Two-Alarm Fire

Five residents of a two-family home on Spruce Street have been displaced by a two-alarm fire that Firefighters from Watertown and four other communities battled on Monday night. Lightning Strike Damages Watertown Home, Sets it on Fire

A lightning strike during the strong storm that hit Watertown Sunday put a hole in the roof of a home near Watertown Square and set the structure on fire. The June 28th storm caused some flooding in areas of town, but Watertown Fire Chief Bob Quinn said the lightning strike was the only fire that the department had to respond to during the foul weather. “It was a freak of luck the way it worked out,” Quinn said. “We are thankful that the people who were in the house were fine.” Residents called 911 after their three-story, two-family home at 130 Mt.

Watertown Fire Department Douses Fire on Porch Before it Spread

A fire that started on the porch of an East Watertown home was extinguished before it could do more damage to the two-family home. On May 11 at about 3:25 p.m. Watertown Fire and Police were called to an Elton Avenue home when a fire was spotted on a porch. “The residents were alerted by a neighboring witness who was sitting on his front porch and noticed the fire and ran over to let the residents know,” said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. Fire and police were called, and hen they arrived, all the residents were safely out of their home. The Watertown Fire Department was able to bring the fire under control.

Watertown Police, Firefighters Give Girl a Special Birthday Celebration

Watertown resident Kristie celebrated her 10th birthday with a special drive by from the Watertown Police and Fire departments. A young girl had some special guests to help celebrate her birthday during the time of COVID-19, a group of Watertown’s first responders. The Watertown Police and Fire Departments put on a small parade on Tuesday to help Kristie celebrate her 10th birthday. One car even had a banner on it saying “Happy Birthday Kristie.” The police and fire vehicles sounded their sirens as the rolled down Whites Avenue, and residents came to their balconies to see the procession.

Watertown Firefighters Douse Flames on Roof of Building on Grove Street

The Watertown Fire Department put out a fire on the roof of an office building in East Watertown on Wednesday. 

Welding sparks ignited some insulation foam on the roof of 65 Grove Street, said Watertown Fire Capt. Ryan Nicholson. “We had to open up a significant area around the point of ignition to ensure the fire hadn’t spread,” Nicholson said. The blaze did not spread beyond the roof. The building was recently renovated building that will have several tenants, including Bosch Thermotechonlogy.
