Water Service Restored After Pipe Break in East Watertown

Water service was restored to residents of the East End on Tuesday afternoon several hours after a water main break near Coolidge Square. The announcement from the City about the water supply main break went out at about 10:40 a.m. on April 22. The break occurred at Elton and Nichols avenues. Repairs were completed by the Department of Public Works Tuesday afternoon, with the announcement going out at about 3:30 p.m.

The City advised residents that their water may be impacted by the break, including being discolored. “If your water is discolored, it is recommended to run your cold water through a faucet until it clears up,” the announcement from the City said.

Water Main Break Shuts Off Service in Area of West Side

The Department of Public Works announced that water has been shut off for some streets on the West End of Watertown on Wednesday. The DPW sent out the following information on its Instagram account:

Please be aware that the Department of Public Works is reporting on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 12:30 PM that the water is shut down on Copeland near Highland to address a water break. We’ll provide updates as we get them.

Water Main Break Impacting Streets in East Watertown

Residents of Cottage Street and several other streets in the area have been impacted by a water main break on Saturday morning. The Department of Public Works sent out the following information shortly after 9 a.m on Oct. 23, 2021. There is a water main break at 12 Cottage Street. The water has been shut down and part of Cottage Street and all of Sawin Street, Rifle Court and Lyon Street have no water right now.

Water Main Break on Greenough Blvd. Impacts Traffic, Some Without Water

A water main broke on Greenough Boulevard, near Arsenal Street Tuesday morning, and the Department of Public Works hopes to have the pipe fixed the same day. 

The break occurred at about 5:30 a.m., and closed the road. Residents of one of the towers on Coolidge Avenue did not have water due to the break, said Public Works Superintendent Gerry Mee. As of 12:30 p.m., crews had removed the broken section of the 12-inch pipe, Mee said. “They are getting pipe to put in, but it is still a slow, long process,” Mee said. “Our goal is to get water back on today.”

Water Main Break on School Street Floods Road, Traffic Stopped

A water main break Thursday night has caused problems on School Street, flooding streets and closing streets near Arsenal Street. Reports of loss of water came in shortly after 7 p.m. and flooding up to several inches deep on Cypress Street was reported by reader Jamie Richard. Watertown Police closed down School Street near Strip T’s restaurant and the Department of Public Works is working on fixing the pipe.

Water Main Break Shuts Down Part of Greenough Boulevard

A water main break flooded part of Greenough Boulevard Tuesday morning, forcing it to be closed. 

The section of the road between North Beacon and Arsenal streets was closed this morning due to the break. The area has been plagued with similar problems over the past few years. The Watertown Department of Public Works has crews working on fixing the pipes.

Water Main Break Shuts off Water, Slows Traffic in Watertown Square

A water main break has cut service to businesses in Watertown Square and has slowed traffic in the area. According to the Department of Public Works private contractor performing repairs for a private customer struck the water pipe. The DPW had to shut down the water from Main Street to Baptist Walk, which left all the businesses in the are without water. The incident occurred about 200 feet east of Main Street, according to the DPW, and two of three inbound traffic lanes on Mt. Auburn Street have been closed.
