1) Tell us about yourself, and why you are running for Councilor At-Large. I am running for Councilor-at- Large because I love Watertown. I am a lifelong resident of Watertown.

1) Tell us about yourself, and why you are running for Councilor At-Large. I have lived in Watertown for nearly 25 years with my partner Ann. We raised two children, Nathaniel and Joanna, who attended Watertown public schools.

1) Tell us about yourself, and why you are running for Councilor At-Large. My wife Laura, her mother, and I moved to Watertown in 1996. Our daughter Rachael is a 10th grader at Watertown High.

1) Tell us about yourself, and why you are running for Councilor At-Large. I am currently completing my first term a Town Councilor and am seeking re-election. I originally ran for office after having worked for Watertown Public Schools and observing the many challenges our buildings were faced with in terms of overcrowding and space capacity issues.

1) Tell us about yourself, and why you are running for Councilor At-Large. I’m originally from Boston and I’ve lived in Watertown now for a little over 7.5 years. I’ve been involved in Watertown’s government for about two years, attending over 200 meetings.
The six people seeking to be Town Councilor At-Large appeared together for the first time Thursday to answer questions at a Candidate Forum co-sponsored by Watertown News and Watertown Cable Access Television. A full room at the Watertown Library’s Watertown Savings Bank Room watched the forum, along with a live TV audience. The forum will be rebroadcast on Watertown Cable. Candidates answered questions from both the forum organizers and residents attending the event. Here are some of the issues they tackled:
Development
The candidates were asked about what can be done about huge amount of development in Watertown and how they can look out for neighbors of the projects
Michael Dattoli, who is seeking re-election, said he was not comfortable with the level of development going on and noted that he voted against the Regional Mixed Use District that allowed for bigger projects in the area of the two malls and beyond.
Town Councilor at Large Michael Dattoli announced that he will be holding two Facebook live video streams beginning today, Thursday, Oct. 5, 7 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 8 at 4 p.m.
Dattoli will be providing updates on some current town initiatives related to school building projects, development, and open space, as well as answering questions from residents during the broadcast. Having successfully run for Town Council twice, and getting the most votes in the At-Large race both times, Aaron Dushku will not to run for a third time – but the decision was not an easy one.
With children growing up and parents growing older, Dushku said that felt he should to spend time with his family rather than on the Council. “My kids and this time with them – and my father has some problems – I would never get these years back,” Dushku said. “It was a really hard decision. I really like being a Town Councilor. I love being a Town Councilor.”
