Police Log: Driver Nearly Strikes Police Cruiser, Shoplifter Eludes Target Security

June 16, 9:20 p.m.: A 35-year-old Waltham man was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery. June 19, 12:33 p.m.: Target security spotted a woman take several items and tried to leave the store. The merchandise was worth $67.97. The 38-year-old woman from Clinton was arrested on a charge of shoplifting.

June 9, 1:16 p.m.: Detectives spotted a man they knew to have a warrant out for his arrest getting on a bus on Arsenal Street. They stopped the bus and removed the man. The 31-year-old man from Watertown was arrested on a warrant from Charlestown District Court for a drug violation. June 9, 1:20 p.m.: Police arrested a 26-year-old Watertown man was arrested on domestic assault and battery charges.

June 2, 2:51 p.m.: A 39-year-old Watertown man was arrested on domestic assault and battery charges. June 2, 9:20 p.m.: Police went to Starbucks after receiving a report of a man attempting to break into a car in the parking lot. The man was banging on a Honda Civic. The owner of the car told police that he did not know the person banging on the car.

May 26, 3:36 a.m.: An officer observing traffic on Galen Street spotted a car go through a red light. The car was pulled over on California Street and the officer detected an odor of alcohol on the driver’s breath. Field sobriety tests were performed and a 32-year-old Waltham man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and failing to stop at a light. The officer also discovered the driver did not have a license, so he was charged with unlicensed driving.

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests

May 21, 10:07 a.m.: Police arrested a 33-year-old Watertown woman on a charge of domestic assault and battery, and officers found a bottle with 27 pills that did not belong to her. She was also charged with possession of a Class E drug. May 21, 7:19 p.m.: Security stopped a suspected shoplifter and the man fought security when they tried to detain him. He continued to fight when police arrived and tried to arrest him.

May 5, 5:11 p.m.: Two women were stopped at Target for removing tags from a number of items, placing them in their pocket books and attempting to leave the store. The items were worth a combined $249.34. A 20-year-old woman from Waltham and a 21-year-old woman from Newton were arrested on one count each of shoplifting. May 7, 2:21 a.m.: An officer patrolling spotted a vehicle make a turn on at a no-turn-on-red intersection and stopped it.

April 21, 5:35 p.m.: A woman was spotted taking numerous clothing items from Target and tried to leave the store. She had $200.49 worth of clothing. Police arrested a 58-year-old Belmont woman on charges of shoplifting over $100. April 21, 4:48 p.m.: An officer on patrol on Main Street stopped a car and discovered the driver had an outstanding arrest warrant. A 36-year-old Dedham man was arrested on the warrant out of Dedham District Court.

Woman’s ‘Shopping Spree’ Lands her in Back of Police Car

An woman upset that she could not return merchandise to Target tried to take matters into her own hands, but ended up under arrest. On April 25, a woman went to the customer service desk at Target to try to return some items, but was told she could not because she did not have the receipt. The woman was not satisfied with that answer. “She said ‘If I don’t get the money I will still what I need,'” said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. “Then she walked through the store and took items off the shelf and tried to leave.”
