Watertown Soccer Player Makes NE Revolution Development Academy

Watertown’s Samuel Deossa was chosen from players from around New England to be part of the the New England Revolution’s Under 14 Academy squad, the Major League Soccer team announced this week. Deossa, a midfielder/forward, will play with the Revolution Academy against other development teams from across the country in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy league. They also receive invitations to play in international tournaments. The academy is part of the program to develop players to play professional soccer. WHS Sports: Football Grabs a Win, Soccer Ends Year, Runners Compete at States

Watertown’s football bounced back from their first loss of the season with a decisive win over visiting Saugus on Friday night. 

The Raiders’ lacked a passing attack, but still racked up more than 300 yards of offense. Senior Austin Farry scored three touchdowns and sophomore Zachary Rimsa added two more in the 33-15 win, according to the report on WickedLocal.com. Watertown has been a outstanding tournament team the last two years – reaching the state final in 2012 and the semifinals in 2013.

WHS Sports: Soccer, Field Hockey Win and Cross Country Preps for States

The Raiders continued their tournament success this week with both the boy’s soccer and field hockey teams moving on. The boy’s soccer team defeated Wakefield on Monday evening with a game-winning goal by Roman Davis. He also had an assist on the first goal, according to the Boston Globe report. The past two years, Watertown (9-5-5) made it to the state semifinals (and made it to the state final two years ag0). The team faces a tough challenge in their next game when the Raiders take on the top seed in the North Section Div.

WHS Sports: Field Hockey, Soccer Kick Off Season, Football Schedule

The Raiders hit the field for another season this week, taking on their rivals from Belmont. Watertown’s field hockey team defeated Belmont 4-0 in season opener at Victory Field. The Raiders next host Arlington on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

The Raiders boys soccer team starts the season with two home games. First they face Belmont on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Victory Field, and then host Arlington on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The girls soccer soccer team hits the road for the first two games against Belmont and Arlington. They come home to face Winchester on Thursday at Moxley Field.
