Watertown Soccer Player Named All-State, Five Make League All-Star Team

Watertown junior Rodrigo Freitas received several honors following the 2019 boys soccer season, including making the All-State team, League MVP, and was one of five Raiders to make the Middlesex League All-Stars. Freitas and the Raiders won the Middlesex League Small (Freedom) Division and got to the North Section Semifinals. He was one of three Middlesex League players named to the All-State team. The midfielder also made the Middlesex League All-Conference team — the best players from the Small and Large school divisions — and the Eastern Massachusetts All-Stars

Other Raiders on the League All-Stars are senior Gevork Kaapetyan, senior Devon Breen, junior Nicholas DiPace and junior Caiden Kiani.

The Raiders boys soccer team not only beat the Marauders Friday, but the 1-0 victory gave them their seventh win in a row. The Watertown High School field hockey team has also gone on a long winning streak, winning eight in a row, including a 3-1 win over Belmont last Wednesday.

Watertown Senior Named to Globe’s All-Scholastic Boys Soccer Team

Watertown senior Alex Egan was named to the Boston Globe’s All-Scholastic boys soccer team. Watertown senior Alex Egan wrapped up his high school soccer career by being named to the Boston Globe’s All-Scholastic team. Egan’s seven goals and 15 assists helped the Raiders win their first outright Middlesex League title. He finished his career with 17 goals and 18 assists. He was also named the Middlesex League Freedom’s Most Valuable Player.
