Santa Visits Watertown Square for Tree Lighting Celebration

Dozens of children and their parents stood on a snow covered Watertown Square Delta Friday evening awaiting the delivery of a special package: Santa Claus. Frosty the Snowman entertained the crowd as they awaited Santa’s arrival. Saint Nick arrived in a Watertown Fire Department SUV for the ninth annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, which was hosted by the Rotary Club of Watertown and Watertown Savings Bank. Rotary Club Invites Seniors to Annual Cookout at Sons of Italy

The Watertown Rotary Club will hosts its annual Senior Citizen Cookout on Oct. 6, 2019. The free event features food, music and entertainment and will be held at the Sons of Italy Hall, 520 Pleasant St., Watertown from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.

Food includes hamburgers, hot dogs and pizza. There will be prizes, give aways and more. Entertainment will be provided by Disc Jockey “Rock’n'” Richard Picceri and Miss Maria’s School of Dance.

The Rotary Club of Watertown awarded more than $10,000 in college scholarships to 11 high school seniors. Rotary Club Seeks Places for Volunteers to Help Out on Service Saturday

The Rotary Club of Watertown will host its first Service Saturday on Saturday, Feb. 24 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and the group is looking for places where volunteers can lend a hand. The Rotary Club sent out this announcement:

We are looking for projects than can accommodate anywhere from 5 or 6 to 20+ volunteers. We will have volunteers of all ages and physical abilities so we are open to all kinds of projects: painting, yard work (assuming the weather is OK), card writing, reading to seniors, helping a family or seniors move furniture, etc. Interested organizations/people can reach out to Lilia at lilia@ballroominboston.com

Watertown Rotary Club Celebrates its 92nd Birthday

The Rotary Club of Watertown celebrated its 92 birthday this week. Members of the service organization marked the occasion at their weekly meeting, Tuesday, which was held at the Residence Inn by Marriott on Arsenal Street, said Rotary President Lilia Weisfeldt. “We’re looking pretty good for 92, don’t cha think?!” Weisfeldt said. New Watertown Senior Center Director Speaks at Rotary Club Meeting

The Rotary Club of Watertown welcomed Watertown’s new director of Senior Services during their meeting this week. 

Anne-Marie Gagnon addressed the Rotary members about her background and vision and plans for the future of the Watertown Senior Center. The Rotary Club meets Tuesdays at noon at the Oakley Country Club. Read more about Gagnon here.
