Mt. Auburn St. Project: Sidewalk Reconstruction and Drainage Installation This Week

The Mt. Auburn Street Project during the week of July 27-31 includes sidewalk work from Boylston to School streets, Hillside Avenue to Upland Road, and School Street to Amherst Road. Drainage work will take place from Bates Road to Russell Avenue. The following information was provided by the City of Watertown:

Sidewalk Grading & Forming

Sidewalk fine grading will take place on Mount Auburn Street between Boylston Street to School Street and Hillside Avenue to Upland Road. Concrete Placement

Concrete placement will take place on the westbound sidewalk along Mount Auburn Street between Boylston Street to School Street.

Sidewalk Work Continues Along Parts of Mt. Auburn Street This Week

The focus of the Mt. Auburn Street Project this week will be sidewalk replacement between School Street and Hillside Road, as well as near Adams Street. There will also be drainage on Mt. Auburn between Bates Road adn Bailey Road.

Sidewalks will be torn up in some places, and repoured in other sections of Mt. Auburn Street in Coolidge Square during the week of June 22-26. Also, drainage will be installed in the area from Walnut Street to Spruce Street. See the impacts and other details in the announcement from the City of Watertown, below.

DPW Hosting Neighborhood Community Meeting About Cottage Street Reconstruction

Residents of the Cottage Street area can learn about upcoming road and sidewalk reconstruction during a community meeting hosted by the Department of Public Works on June 30. See more information in the announcement from the City of Watertown, below. The City of Watertown and the Department of Public Works are hosting a community meeting for the residents of the Cottage Street neighborhood to discuss upcoming road reconstruction and improvement projects. Come view the plans, ask questions, and learn about the work that will be done to improve the roadways and sidewalks. The meeting will take place on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 6 p.m. We will meet at the intersection of Cottage Street and the Watertown-Cambridge Greenway and walk a short distance throughout the neighborhood.

Sidewalk Work Continues in Coolidge Square This Week

The process of removing, reconfiguring, and pouring new sidewalks in Coolidge Square continues during the week of June 15, 2026. See more details in the announcement from the City of Watertown, below. Sidewalk Grading & Forming

Sidewalk fine grading will take place at School Street and Hillside Road. Sidewalk forming will take place between Winsor Ave. and Hillside Road.

Sidewalk Work Continues in Coolidge Square This Week During Mt. Auburn St. Project

Crews will be doing sidewalk work in multiple parts of Mt. Auburn Street this week, including in the business district in Coolidge Square. Businesses will remain open during the construction, some may be accessible only using rear entrances. See more details in the announcement from the City of Watertown, below. Concrete Removal

Concrete sidewalk panels will be removed along the eastbound side of Mount Auburn Street between Bigelow Ave.

Sidewalk Replacements, Removal of Catenary System This Week on Mt. Auburn Street

Crews will be replacing sidewalks on parts of Mt. Auburn Street, along with removing the old bus wires system, and replacing drainage. See more details in the announcement from the City of Watertown, below. Curb Removal & Reset

Crews will be removing and resetting the westbound curbing on Mount Auburn Street between Winsor Avenue and Hillside Road. Sidewalk Grading & Forming

Once the curb removal  is completed they will be grading (measures used for proper drainage) and forming the westbound sidewalk on Mount Auburn Street between School Street and Hillside RoadThe crews will also continue forming and grading the east bound sidewalk on Mount Auburn Street at Norseman Avenue and School Lane.
