Temporary Paving Expected to be Completed Next Week

The City of Watertown has initiated work to temporarily level and pave the remainder of Mount Auburn Street next week while we await the completion of the Mt. Auburn Street Project. Originally not anticipated to receive any temporary paving as part of the project, the City has stepped in to fund this work to ensure one of Watertown’s busiest roads is paved for safer, smoother travel in 2024 ahead of the winter season. This work is being accelerated beyond the scope of the ongoing Mt.

Mt. Auburn St. Repaving Between School and Summer St. Starts Next Week

The City of Watertown sent out the following information:

Temporary Paving Expected to be Completed Next Week

Newport Construction will be leveling and laying temporary pavement moving east on Mount Auburn Street, starting at Summer Street and ending just prior to School Street. Both eastbound and westbound lanes will be completed, starting on the eastbound side of the street. The road lines will be restriped once the paving is completed to look the same as it was previously. The work originally scheduled for Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM has been rescheduled due to anticipated rain. It is now expected to take place on Monday, November 25, and Tuesday, November 26, 2024 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Mt. Auburn Street Paving Work This Weekend Will Include Lane Closures & Parking Restrictions

The City of Watertown provided an update on the Mt. Auburn Street road project, including impacts from the weekend paving work. Paving started last week on the first 500 feet from the Cambridge line. Paving work is scheduled to continue from Wednesday, November 6, 2024, through Friday, November 8, 2024, between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. Additionally, paving will take place on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., as the construction schedule was adjusted to pause work on Election Day. This paving work will include Mount Auburn Street between the Cambridge Line and Arlington Street, as well as the side street entrances in these locations. Road Resurfacing on Main Street Will Take Two Days

The City of Watertown announced the repaving of Main Street from near the Watertown Fire Station past City Hall beginning on Halloween. See details provided by the City, below. Cassidy Corp will mill and pave Main Street from Whites Avenue to John Sonny Whooley Way on Thursday, October 31, and Friday, November 1, 2024, from 9 am to 3 pm each day. Permanent pavement markings are set for Saturday, November 2, from 7 am to 11 am. These dates may change based on weather.

Repaving of Mt. Auburn Street Near Cambridge Line Will Include in Lane Shifts, Detours

Repaving of Mt. Auburn Street begins Wednesday at the Cambridge line, and installation of drainage continues this week. See the details in the announcement provided by the City of Watertown, below. Drainage Installation Work Continues

Newport Construction will continue the drainage work on Mount Auburn Street. The project will continue to work its way towards Arlington St.

Update on Arsenal Street Paving Project, Which Begins Aug. 19

The following announcement was provided by the City of Watertown:

Please read this updated information about Arsenal Street Paving and the Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) Traffic Advisory regarding Greenough Boulevard:

Arsenal St. paving is scheduled for August 19-24, 2024, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM (hours may be extended) (from Greenough Blvd to School Street) and School Street (from Arsenal Street to 76 School Street). There will be “No Parking” signs posted. Avoid parking in these areas. Access to driveways and the road being worked on will be limited during paving to allow for time for asphalt to cool.

Repaving of Arsenal Street Will Include Lane Closures, Detours

The following announcement was provided by the City of Watertown:

Street paving will begin on August 12, 2024, along Arsenal Street, from Greenough Blvd to School Street, and on School Street, from Arsenal Street. to 76 School Street. “No Parking” signs will be posted where necessary in the areas designated for road work. Please avoid parking your car in these posted areas. During paving, access to and from your driveway and the roadway being worked on will be limited.

Removal of Overhead Wires Begins on Mt. Auburn Street as Part of the Reconstruction Project

The City of Watertown announced that preparation work for the Mt. Auburn Street reconstruction project will begin this week. See the announcement below. The Mount Auburn Street project team is pleased to announce that roadway and sidewalk construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2024.
