Kurtis Johnson, age 24, of Watertown, formerly of Plymouth, died on April 2, 2019. Son of Lauren Connolly and Richard Johnson. Cherished brother of Nicole and Matthew Johnson. Stepson of Joseph Connolly, Michelle Lockwood and Bill Matus. Wonderful grandson to Ken Devine and Diane Arndt and great grand son to Sue Devine.

David Paul Roche of Watertown. April 1, 2019, at age 57. Loving son of Mary Catherine (Dormady) Roche and the late John Martin Roche. Dear brother of Wayne Roche & his partner Anna of New Hampshire, Susan Roche of Florida, Kim Harvey & her husband Brian of California, Jacquelyn Roche of Watertown, and Tim Roche & his wife Carole of Watertown. Also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

OBIT: Catherine Holt, 101, Longtime Watertown Resident, Great Grandmother

Catherine James (Constantino) Holt, 101, of Wellesley, formerly of Watertown, passed away on March 21, 2019. Catherine attended Watertown High School but left to work in the family business, Kay’s Bakery on Galen Street, during the Great Depression and served as the Secretary of the Bakers Union in Boston during the 1930’s, according to the Town Council proclamation given to her on her 100th birthday. She received her GED diploma, and after watching her own children graduate from Boston College, she returned to school graduating from Newbury College, with honors, in 1982, at age 64. Beloved wife of the late Charles E. Holt. Devoted mother of Leonard T. Holt and his wife Deborah, and Barbara Holt Clarke and her husband Jeffrey. Loving grandmother of Jennifer and her husband Ryan, Leonard Jr. and his wife Chelsea, Kenneth, Jonathan, and Philip.

Anthony (Tony) DiGiacomandrea was born in Acton on April 27, 1929. He grew up in a farm house in Acton where his father and uncle owned and ran a concrete block company for several years. The family moved to Watertown when Tony was still young where he spent his entire life. After a brief illness, on March 12, 2019, at the age of 89, Tony passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Tony was a hard-working blue collar guy.

A Funeral Mass for Thomas J. McDermott, 87, will be held on Saturday, March 2, in the Church of Saint Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown. Mr. McDermott, a son of the late Patrick J. and Mary (McGuire) McDermott, was born in Watertown. He was a lifelong resident of the town, attended Saint Patrick Grammar School and graduated from Boston College High School. He furthered his education receiving a bachelor’s degree from Boston College and a master’s degree from Suffolk University. After Boston College, Mr. McDermott served in the United States Army Honor Guard during the Korean Conflict era.

OBIT: Virginia Lewisohn Kahn, 90, Founded the Atrium School in Watertown

Virginia Lewisohn Kahn, an educator who founded the Atrium School in Watertown, Massachusetts, died on Sept. 21 at the age of 90 at her home in Cambridge. Ginny was born to a prominent philanthropic and banking family in New York City. Her parents were Sam A. and Margaret (Seligman) Lewisohn, both active community leaders well known for their collection of Impressionist and Early Modern painting. The youngest of four sisters, Ginny attended the progressive Lincoln School (Columbia University), where her lifelong commitment to innovative education was formed.
