The Faire on the Square, Watertown’s annual celebration, will take place Saturday, Sept. 23 at Saltonstall Park (next to City Hall). Come enjoy the entertainment, dozens of exhibitors, music, food, kids activities, an apple pie contest and chili cook off, a beer garden, and more! The Faire will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Organizers announced the Faire will take place, rain or shine.

New Repertory Theatre presents A Raisin in the Sun | September 6-October 1
Lorraine Hansberry’s groundbreaking drama is a searing and timeless portrait of a family on Chicago’s South Side, and an American classic. A Raisin in the Sun is an answer to the poem from which the title is derived – Langston Hughes’ Harlem.
During Bruce Springsteen’s recent concert at Gillette Stadium, one of the members of the E Street Band revealed that he was born not just in the Boston area, but in Watertown. During the band’s performance of “Glory Days” the band asked the crowd “Do you want to go home?” to which guitarist Steven Van Zandt responded, “You know, I was born here,” according to a report on Boston.com. Springsteen responded, “In Boston?” And, Van Zandt specified, “Yeah, Watertown!”
According to the report, he spent his first several years before moving to New Jersey.

Join the Armenian Cultural & Educational Center (ACEC) in Watertown for an elegant evening of “Jazz and Armenian Wine” on Friday, Aug. 25.
The evening will begin with Storica Wines, the leading purveyor of Armenian wines in the U.S. Storica Wines boasts a portfolio of 19 exquisite wines that reclaim long-lost grape varietals indigenous to Armenia, including Areni and Voskehat. The company will offer eight of its finest wines at the ACEC event, accompanied by a presentation on Armenia’s historic winemaking culture. Hors d’oeuvres will be served by Boston eatery anoush’ella. After wine tasting, guests will enjoy a performance by the Yulia Musayelyan Quartet.

The third annual Watertown Arts Market is just two weeks away, and there will be many vendors, businesses, and musical acts throughout the day. The Arts Market will be held on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 12-5 p.m. at Filippello Park (Grove Street entrance). It is free to attend and vendors will be selling art, food, drinks, and other items.

Singer-songwriter Noah Kahan took the biggest stage at the premier music festival in New England — Boston Calling — on Saturday night. He grew up in a small town in Vermont, but the 26-year-old now calls Watertown home. Kahan’s meteoric rise was aided by a viral song about his home state, “Stick Season.”

The Summer Concert Series offers free performances at Saltonstall Park, 149 Main Street, Watertown. The concerts take place immediately following the Watertown Farmer’s Market, from 6:30-8 PM. You are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Brought to you by the City of Watertown, Public Arts & Culture with help from the Department of Public Works. Along with the concert, enjoy “Music at the Market” featuring local musicians on Wednesdays from 3-5 PM.
