Prospective students attended MassBay Community College’s spring open house. MassBay Community College announced will hold its annual Fall Open House on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 at 9 a.m.. President David Podell along with faculty, staff, and students will be on hand to greet and welcome prospective students and their families to the Wellesley Hills campus. The Fall Open House is an opportunity for prospective students to meet and talk with current students, faculty, and staff to learn about the 70 degree and certificate programs offered at MassBay and transfer opportunities.

MassBay Community College be open this Saturday, August 24, 2019 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. on the Wellesley Hills campus for students to get ready for the start of the fall semester on September 3, 2019. Prospective students, new students and returning students can apply for admission to the College, register for classes, pay their tuition bills, fill out and drop off financial aid paperwork, speak with an advisor, attend new student orientation, and more. “With August coming to a close, students are starting to finalize their fall semester plans,” said MassBay Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management Lisa Slavin. “Whether you’re returning from military service, your fall college plans have changed, there is still plenty of time to enroll at MassBay for the fall classes. Course offerings include day, evening, weekend, online, accelerated, and hybrid courses.

MassBay Community College will host a STEM Expo. MassBay Community College provided the following information:

MassBay Community College will hold its bi-annual Spring STEM Expo on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 from 1 p.m.–2 p.m. Students in the Engineering, Math, Computer Science, Life Sciences, and Biotechnology fields will be presenting their work to the MassBay college community as well as external partners. The Spring STEM Expo is an opportunity for MassBay students to showcase their creativity and innovation through the projects they have completed during the course of the semester. Guests learn about the students’ research as well as the processes that went into the creation of their work. At a time when businesses are clamoring for employees who have skills in the high-demand STEM fields, MassBay is providing a much needed source of “middle-skills” workers who have the education and training to fill these critically important positions.

President Dr. David Podell along with faculty, staff and students will be on hand to greet and welcome prospective students and their families to the Wellesley Hills campus. The Spring Open House is an opportunity for prospective students to meet and talk with current students, faculty, and staff to learn about the 70 degree and certificate programs offered at MassBay and transfer opportunities after MassBay. Prospective students are encouraged to attend to learn more about student clubs and organizations, the admissions and financial aid process, and talk with academic divisions. The Open House will include a self-guided tour of campus, information sessions, student and alumni panel discussions, information for veterans, on-the-spot admissions, and more. MassBay College Offers Several Online Degrees & Certificates

The following information was provided by MassBay Community College:

MassBay Community College announces spring semester begins on Tuesday, January 22, 2019 and students have a robust selection of online courses to choose from, including Biology, Business Communications, Computer Programming, Law, Freshman English, U.S. History, Marketing, Spanish and more. MassBay currently offers seven associate degree programs and three certificate programs students can take online, as well as two certificate programs featuring hybrid courses – which replace some seat time with online activities, but have regular class meetings. 

The seven associate degree programs that are offered online include; Business Administration (Associate in Science), General Business (Associate in Science), General Studies (Associate in Arts), General Studies (Associate in Science), Liberal Arts (Associate of Arts), Liberal Arts: Psychology/Sociology/Anthropology (Associate in Arts), and Paralegal Studies (Associate in Science). The three online certificate programs available include; Marketing, Management, and Paralegal Studies. Certificates in computer-Aided Design and Cyber Security courses are available as hybrid format certificate programs. Most other programs are available at least partially online. “Online Education courses continue to grow in popularity as more and more busy professionals return to college to update new or retool existing professional skills,” said MassBay Director of Online Education Jim Grenier.

Watertown Resident Honored at MassBay Graduation for Academic Performance

MassBay Community College honored students at the College’s 56th Commencement ceremony on Thursday, May 17th at the Wellesley Hills campus. The following information was provided by MassBay Community College:

Nearly 300 students participated in this year’s Commencement ceremony, representing students from 35 countries from around the world. This diverse and talented group also recognized five students who earned a 4.0 GPA, seven students who earned the highest GPA in their academic divisions, and the Foster Furcolo Scholarship awardee. This year’s Student Commencement Speaker and Commencement Singer of the National Anthem, were both student veterans graduating. Student veteran Derek Jordan of Hudson, MA began the ceremony with the singing of the National Anthem.

Watertown High Grad Excelling in Honors Program at MassBay College

Michelle Gallego, of Watertown, never thought she would have the time or the grades to be able to take honors courses in college, but she proved herself wrong and has taken four honors courses here at MassBay. The Watertown High graduate studied at Emerson College briefly before financial reasons forced her to take leave to work full-time. When she started to miss the academia setting, she decided to take classes at MassBay to continue what she loved – learning. Since being at MassBay, Gallego, a Humanities major, has taken Honors Freshman English I and II, American History I and Spanish in the Community: Service Learning and Travel Abroad. “The honors courses I’ve taken here have been my absolute favorite classes,” said Gallego.
