Winter Parking Ban Temporarily Lifted for the Holidays

Watertown Police Chief sent out the following letter:

Dear Watertown,

With the Holidays fast approaching, the Watertown Police Department recognizes the need for additional overnight parking to accommodate visiting family members and friends. Chief of Police Michael P. Lawn wishes to announce that effective December 23, 2017 officers will temporarily stop enforcing the All Night Parking Ban – barring any snowfall that would require plowing or sanding. Should there be a snow event please refer to the town website for available off street parking locations. Chief Lawn still encourages all homeowners to use available off street parking during the overnight hours. Enforcement of the All Night Parking ban will resume on January 3, 2018.

Singing Deli Worker Delights Russo’s Shoppers, Becomes an Internet Sensation

A Facebook video of a Russo’s deli worker singing Christmas songs has gone viral, and caught the attention of news outlets both locally and nationally. 

Gillie Assuncao began working at Russo’s just four months ago as a dishwasher but now works in the market’s deli area. The Brazilian native also has an amazing baritone voice. The store posted a video of Assuncao singing to customers over the weekend and it took off. It also caught the attention of media, both locally and nationally. He has been interviewed by news outlets, including Boston’s WBZ Channel 4 and the national ABC News.

Holiday Performances, Breakfast with Santa and More at the Watertown Mall

Watertown Church Hosting Service for Those Who Struggle to be Jolly During the Holidays

Church of the Good Shepherd announced it will once again host a Blue Christmas service this year. This service is particularly for those who find it hard to be jolly at the holidays, due to grief, loss, or concerns for the world. The gathering includes song, prayer, readings, and a chance to light a candle in remembrance. A reception follows. The service will be Wednesday, December 13 at 7 pm, Church of the Good Shepherd, 9 Russell Ave., Watertown
Parking is on the street or in the lot behind Watertown High School.

Get Free Gift Wrapping and Help Two Organizations

The Watertown Mall invites shoppers to join them for a weekend of complementary gift wrapping at the Watertown Mall courtesy of Antioch Community Church and The American Cancer Society Relay for Life! We will have Antioch Community Church here on Saturday, December 16 and The American Cancer Society here on Sunday, December 17 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Contest Looking for the Best Holiday Lighting and Decorations in Watertown

Proud of your holiday lights display … Do you have the most Christmas spirt – enter the Watertown Holiday Lighting and Decoration Contest! Donate to the Watertown Police Toy Drive at Locations Around Town

The Whooley Foundation, named after a former Watertown Police officer, is collecting toys and donations for children in the community. The donations go to children and assist more than 100 in the community each year. The Foundation’s motto is “Our Mission is to ensure that no child in our community goes without the joy of opening a present during the holidays.” Unwrapped toys, gift cards and monetary donations for children from infants to teens will be accepted through Dec. 20 at drop off locations around town:
