Watertown Soccer Player Named to Youth National Futsal Team

By Charlie Breitrose | September 7, 2016

After traveling to Kansas for a tryout, a young soccer player from Watertown was selected to be on the U11 U.S. National Futsal team.

Marc Kim recently received his invitation after a year long process concluding with the National I.D. Event in Gardner, Kansas. Futsal is a type of soccer played by five-a-side teams and often takes place indoors. “It is my pleasure to confirm that you have been selected to represent your country on the U11 U.S. Youth Futsal National Team,” wrote the staff of the Youth Futsal National team. Kim started playing organized soccer at age 7, and gradually advanced from town soccer, town travel team, camps to playing in an elite team in a local soccer club based in Newton. He got his passion for soccer from his father, O.T, who grew up in Germany, and has played his entire life.

On Sunday, October 26, Housing for All Watertown hosted a housing forum featuring the five candidates for Watertown’s four at-large city council seats: Caroline Bays, John Gannon, Theo Offei, Tony Palomba, and Tom Tracy. Forty Watertown residents heard the candidates discuss their visions for housing policy in Watertown (see the video recording of the forum here), and we were encouraged to see broad consensus on the importance of addressing our city’s critical housing shortage, even if the paths to get there varied across candidates.
