See What Will be Closed for July Fourth in Watertown

The City of Watertown announced the following closings on July 4, 2024:

Watertown City Hall, Parker Annex, Department of Public Works Offices, Senior Center and the Watertown Free Public Library are closed on Thursday, July 4, 2024 in observance of Independence Day. Please be aware that due to the Independence Day holiday on Thursday, July 4, 2024, trash and recycling pickup will be delayed one day. The pickup schedule is Monday, July 1-Wednesday, July 3, 2024 and Friday, July 5-Saturday, July 6, 2024. A holiday postpones pickup by one day.

The City of Watertown announced the schedule for municipal facilities on the Fourth of July. City officials sent out the following information:

Watertown City Hall, Library, and Senior Center, are closed on Independence Day, Monday, July 4, 2022. Have a safe and fun holiday! Due to the holiday being on Monday, the trash and recycling pickup schedule shifts a day to Tuesday, July 5 through Saturday, July 9, 2022. Learn more about Trash and Recycling here.

Stock Up for the Fourth of July at the Watertown Farmers Market

The Watertown Farmers Market will be in full swing on Wednesday, July 3, and shoppers can get meats and veggies for the grill, ingredients for salads and the kids can enjoy an Independence Day craft. The market will be open on Wednesday, July 3, from 2:30 – 6:30 p.m. at Saltonstall Park (next to Town Hall). The organizers of the Watertown Farmers Market provided the following information:

Pick up tips, chops, sausages, dogs, and more from Lilac Hedge Farm, all perfect for the grill. And let’s not forget about the veggies such as this Grilled Zucchini and Summer Squash Salad or this Grilled Beet Salad with Caramelized Citrus. Guest vendor, B – Organics, will be selling produce bags to keep those veggies fresh until you’re ready to use them.

The Watertown Recreation Department will host a Fourth of July Celebration at Victory Field. Schedule of Events

10:00-10:50 a.m.: Soccer Game: (ages 7 and under) Obstacle Course: (ages 8-10) 3 on 3 Basketball: (ages 11 and older) Wet and Wild Waterslide: (all ages)

11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.: Obstacle Course: (Ages 7 and under) Dodgeball: (ages 8-10) Flag football: (ages 11 and older) Baseball – Softball Pickup (ages 9 – 12) Wet and Wild Waterslide: (all ages)

12:30-1:30 p.m.: Parachute Game (ages 7 and under) Obstacle Course: (ages 8-10) Dodgeball: (Ages 11 and older) Wet and Wild Waterslide: (all ages)

1:30-2:00 p.m.: Water Balloon Toss: (all ages) Group Games: (all ages) Wiffleball Homerun Derby: (all ages) Wet and Wild Waterslide: (all ages)

All Day Activities: Face Painting, Arts & Crafts and Waterslides

There will be hot dogs, burgers and refreshments served free of charge between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

The Recreation Department is hosting open forum on Tuesday, July 2 from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Lower Hearing Room in Town Hall.
