The Watertown Football Gridiron Club, coaches, and players would like to thank you for your generosity and support during this football season! Many of our local businesses paid for an ad in our Program Book—we thank you and hope you had an opportunity to see your ad displayed. Others donated items, food for our players’ lunches, or for our snack shack on game nights: Boston House of Pizza, The Chateau Restaurant, Donohue’s Bar & Grill, Gerry’s Italian Kitchen, Friendly’s Restaurant, Home Depot, McDonald’s, Supercuts, The Talk Restaurant, Tri-City Restaurant, and” W” House of Pizza. Your generosity was truly appreciated. The Watertown Raiders had a great 9-2 season this year and part of that success is due to the support you and the Watertown community has given them.

WHS Sports: Football Grabs a Win, Soccer Ends Year, Runners Compete at States

Watertown’s football bounced back from their first loss of the season with a decisive win over visiting Saugus on Friday night. 

The Raiders’ lacked a passing attack, but still racked up more than 300 yards of offense. Senior Austin Farry scored three touchdowns and sophomore Zachary Rimsa added two more in the 33-15 win, according to the report on WickedLocal.com. Watertown has been a outstanding tournament team the last two years – reaching the state final in 2012 and the semifinals in 2013.

Field Hockey Heads to Section Final; Football at Home Friday

The Watertown field hockey team continued its march toward a sixth straight state title Wednesday night. The Raiders (20-0) rolled over Tewkesbury with six first half goals, including a hattrick from sophomore Kourtney Kennedy. The season continues for the Watertown football team despite last week’s loss to Swampscott in the first round of the state playoffs.

Watertown Football Team Remains Undefeated

The Raiders football team continued their unbeaten season with a tough game at Burlington on Friday night. Watertown watched a 28-7 third-quarter lead disappear when Burlington scored a touchdown and two-point conversion to go up 29-28 with 2:44 left in the fourth quarter, according to a report in the Lowell Sun. The Raiders drove and Zach Rimsa scored on a 2-yard run with 30 seconds left, the Sun reported. The team added a two-point conversion to win 36-29. Watertown improved to 6-0.

Raiders Remain Undefeated in Football After Win Over Melrose

Watertown put its undefeated season on the line against a team that beat them last last year, but this year they came out victorious. The Raiders held on to beat Melrose 28-26 at Victory Field on Friday night. The team was lead by Nick Giordano and Zack Rimsa, who each scored two touchdowns, according to the Boston Globe report. Raiders Play Thursday Football, Field Hockey Team on TV

Watertown enjoyed success under the Thursday night lights at Victory Field. The Raiders beat Wakefield 40-22 on a rare Thursday night contest. Watertown beat Reading 3-0 in field hockey on Thursday to extend the team’s unbeaten streak to 125.

Watertown continued its success on the football and field hockey turf this week. The Raiders traveled to play Shawsheen in football on Saturday and came away 26-6 victors. The Boston Globe reports that Zach Rimsa scored two touchdowns for Watertown. The Raiders improve to 2-0 and play at Stoneham on Sept. 26 at 6:30 p.m.

The field hockey team has now stretched its unbeaten streak to 121, after beating Winchester 7-0 on the road and Wakefield 6-0 at home.

WHS Sports: Field Hockey, Soccer Kick Off Season, Football Schedule

The Raiders hit the field for another season this week, taking on their rivals from Belmont. Watertown’s field hockey team defeated Belmont 4-0 in season opener at Victory Field. The Raiders next host Arlington on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.

The Raiders boys soccer team starts the season with two home games. First they face Belmont on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Victory Field, and then host Arlington on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The girls soccer soccer team hits the road for the first two games against Belmont and Arlington. They come home to face Winchester on Thursday at Moxley Field.
