Watertown Field Hockey Heading to Sixth Straight State Final

Watertown has a spot in the state final – a familiar place for the Raiders who are on their way to their sixth straight MIAA Div. 2 field hockey state title bout. In Tuesday afternoon’s state semifinal at Reading Memorial High School, Watertown (22-0) faced a field hockey foe which could move the ball upfield and create offensive pressure, but the result was the same as all the games this year – a shutout win for the Raiders. “I’m extremely proud of them. They worked so hard out there and they stayed strong and stayed together,” said Watertown coach Eileen Donahue.

Raiders Keep Rolling, Capture Field Hockey Section Title

The Raiders field hockey team put away a pesky Weston team to win Sunday’s MIAA Div. 2 North Section final. Watertown (21-0) earned another section title and lengthened its unbeaten streak to 136 straight games with the win at North Andover High School. Sophomore Kourtney Kennedy whacked home a goal to give the Raiders a lead under three minutes into the game. Watertown coach Eileen Donahue said Kennedy did a good job keeping the play alive after a corner and scored the goal.

Field Hockey Heads to Section Final; Football at Home Friday

The Watertown field hockey team continued its march toward a sixth straight state title Wednesday night. WHS Sports: Soccer, Field Hockey Win and Cross Country Preps for States

The Raiders continued their tournament success this week with both the boy’s soccer and field hockey teams moving on. The boy’s soccer team defeated Wakefield on Monday evening with a game-winning goal by Roman Davis. He also had an assist on the first goal, according to the Boston Globe report. The past two years, Watertown (9-5-5) made it to the state semifinals (and made it to the state final two years ag0). The team faces a tough challenge in their next game when the Raiders take on the top seed in the North Section Div.

Watertown Field Hockey Starts Hunt for Sixth Straight State Title

The Watertown field hockey team learned who it will play in the State Tournament as they seek a sixth straight crown. The top seeded Raiders will host the quarterfinal of the MIAA Div. 2 North Section field hockey tournamentagainst the winner of the Wilmington (eighth seed, 9-4-3)-Newburyport (ninth, 9-5-4) game. Raiders Play Thursday Football, Field Hockey Team on TV

Watertown enjoyed success under the Thursday night lights at Victory Field. The Raiders beat Wakefield 40-22 on a rare Thursday night contest. Watertown field hockey coach Eileen Donahue will be featured in a piece on WCVB Channel 5 on Oct. 2. If you drive by Watertown High School you will notice some large numbers posted in the window. These signify the success of the Watertown field hockey team. The numbers are both large in size – around five feet high – and what the stand for – the Raiders unbeaten streak. On Thursday the number “121” was displayed but Athletic Director Michael Lahiff will have to add another 2 after Watertown defeated Lincoln-Sudbury 7-0 on Thursday afternoon. The game was well in hand after at halftime, when the Raiders held a 5-0.
