FBI Arrests New York Man for Allegedly Selling Drugs in Watertown

The FBI arrested a man who traveled to Watertown from New York to allegedly sell drugs on Friday. The Boston Globe reported that Cesar Nunez Lopez, of New York City, went to a parking lot in town to meet a person he believed to be a buyer, but was actually a federal informant. Nunez Lopez allegedly sold the man fentanyl on three different occasions, including at the Home Depot parking lot in Watertown. He was arrested on drug trafficking charges. Watertown Man Arrested in Newport on Charges of Delivering Fentanyl

A Watertown man was arrested in Newport, Rhode Island, after allegedly delivering fentanyl after being linked to an opioid overdose in October. Jason Sumner, 49, of Watertown, was arrested last week and arraigned on Nov. 15 in Newport County District Court and was ordered held without bail. In October, Newport police and firefighters responded to and overdose, and officers administered Narcan to the person, who recovered, according to a report by WPRI Channel 12. During the investigation, police determined the cocaine ingested by the person had been mixed with fentanyl, which was linked to Sumner, according to WPRI.

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests

June 14, 1:15 p.m.: The Suburban Middlesex County Drug Task Force, which includes a Watertown detective, had been conducting a narcotics investigation. During the investigation, they observed a man driving on Rosedale Avenue whom they had probable cause to arrest. The man’s car was stopped at Rosedale Avenue near Acton Street. Inside the car, officers observed in plain view a small plastic bag with a white powdery substance that is believed to be fentanyl.

Watertown Police Arrest Waltham Man Who Had an Illegal Firearm, Variety of Drugs

Watertown Police arrested a 25-year-old Waltham man found to have an unlicensed firearm and drugs. On the evening of April 27, a Palfrey Street resident called Police because he suspected two men had been attempting to break into his home. When Police arrived, the homeowner pointed out two men walking down Palfrey Street, away from the house, and officers were able to stop them, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. One was identified as Ernest Russo of Waltham. “While they were speaking with the two men, one of the officers observed Mr. Russo clutching something in his waistband,” O’Connor said.

Police Arrest Watertown Man Suspected of Distributing Cocaine, Marijuana

A 28-year-old Watertown man faces charges of possession of drugs with intent to distribute following an investigation by Watertown Police and an area drug task force. Police served a warrant on Garnett J. Miles’ home on Waverley Avenue on March 18 at 9:31 a.m., according to Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. The arrest came after a month-long investigation between the WPD and the Suburban Middlesex County Drug Task Force. “As a result, of the investigation, a search warrant was executed at his residence,” O’Connor said. “Our investigation revealed we had probable cause he was distributing narcotics from his residence.”

Jan. 3, 6:17 p.m.: Loss prevention at Home Depot detained two shoplifters who were spotted taking items and put them into a backpack. The pair first went to the tool section and then to the electrical and light area. When they were stopped, the pair had a Copper Fit back support, two Roku streaming sticks, a Rigid 18-volt combo kit, a Google Home Mini Charcoal and a Google Home Mini Chalk.

Two Men Busted for Drug Possession After Driver Found Slumped at Wheel

Two men face drug charges after police found them in a car stopped in the middle of a street near Watertown Square, with the driver asleep at the wheel. On March 3, at 11 p.m., Watertown Police received a report of a car blocking the intersection of Spring and Summer streets. When police arrived they found the vehicle had moved a few blocks to Spring and Palfrey streets, but the driver was slumped behind the wheel, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. “Officer were able to wake the operator. A witness said he had been like that for about 8 minutes,” O’Connor said.
