Watertown Inauguration Taking Place at the Commander’s Mansion

Watertown’s Commander’s Mansion. The public is invited to attend Watertown’s inauguration ceremony at the Commander’s Mansion on Jan. 2. 2024. The newly elected members of the City Council, School Committee, and the Board of Library Trustees will be sworn in at the ceremony, which begins at 7 p.m. The historic mansion is located at 440 Talcott Ave., off of Arsenal Street.

Whoville Jubilee & Tree Lighting Returns to the Commander’s Mansion

The Commander’s Mansion sent out the following announcement:

Join us for Watertown’s Fourth Annual Whoville Jubilee & Official Tree Lighting on Saturday December 2nd 2023 from 5:30-8:00 PM at the Commander’s Mansion! Cheermeister parade and tree lighting will take place at 7 PM! We will be collecting donations of new, unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots the WPD Whooley Foundation! Join us for family friendly activities including:

– Holiday bazaar- Photos with Santa, the Grinch and Max!- Train ride- Kids crafts- Story time- Live performances- Sweet treats… And more!

Watertown Hosting Senior Health & Wellness Fair This Week

On Nov. 15, 2023, the Watertown Department of Senior Services will host the Health and Wellness Fair at the Commander’s Mansion. The event includes free presentations, fitness demonstrations, health screens, a raffle, giveaway as and many vendors! The event takes place from noon to 3 p.m., and doors open at 11:40 p.m. Seating is limited, and the event is wheel chair accessible with a elevator. Vendors Wanted for Watertown Senior Health & Wellness Fair

Freedom Garden to Break Ground at Watertown’s 2nd Annual Poppy Picnic

The City of Watertown invites the public to come to the Commander’s Mansion on May 27 for the Second Annual Poppy Picnic! Grab your picnic blanket and join us on May 27th, 2022, to kick off the Memorial Day Weekend! There will be music, food trucks, kids’ games, crafts, story time, adaptive game demos, military vehicles, a donation station, and the groundbreaking for The Freedom Garden. At the picnic, Operation American Soldier will be accepting donations of non-perishable goods to send to our troops. With each donation, you will be entered for a chance to receive an engraved memorial brick to dedicate to a friend or family member for no additional charge.

Freedom Garden Planned to Honor Veterans, City Puts Out Call for Sign to Mark Spot

Watertown veterans will be honored with a new garden to be planted next to the Commander’s Mansion, and the City has put out a call for bids to create a sign to go with the garden. The garden includes not just flowers and plants, but also memorial bricks to honor veterans, and a sign. Hundreds Get in the Holiday Spirit at Watertown’s Tree Lighting

Charlie BreitroseThe Watertown Tree Lighting and other activities drew a crowd at the Commander’s Mansion. Hundreds of children and their parents flocked to the Commander’s Mansion Saturday evening for the Watertown Tree Lighting. One lucky family was selected in a raffle to turn on the lights on the Christmas tree set up outside the Mansion. The winning ticket was selected by the Mayor of Whoville, played by City Council President Mark Sideris. The winning family was escorted over to the light switch next to the tree by a parade led by the Tuba Guy.

The City of Watertown and its sponsors presents The Whoville Jubilee and Official Watertown Tree Lighting! Come visit the grounds of the Commander’s Mansion for a jolly night of holiday fun on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.! This will be an indoor and outdoor walking experience.
