Dog & Watertown Woman Being Reunited on Christmas

Kobe HenroKoke will be delivered from Israel to a Watertown woman by a Sudbury non-profit on Christmas morning. A Watertown woman will get a special delivery from the Holy Land on Christmas, not from Santa but from a Massachusetts-based charity. A dog named Koke was discovered by a Watertown woman on a recent trip to Israel, according to a report by WBZ Radio. The pooch was found with a litter of newborns on the side of the road. The woman, not named by WBZ, wanted to bring Koke home, but ran into issues.

On Friday, Dec. 23, Watertown City Hall and the Watertown Senior Center will close at noon, but the Watertown Library will be open. The Library will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 24 and Sunday, Dec.

Grace Chapel Watertown Hosting Pair of Christmas Eve Services

Grace Chapel Watertown announced two Christmas Eve services at the church located at 525 Main St. in Watertown. Christmas tells the story of silence punctuated by sound — from a voice crying in the wilderness, to a baby crying in a cattle stall. Through Advent we journey alongside people who wonder about God’s silence; whose world needs heavenly peace; and who long for moments when all is calm, and hope shines bright. At a manger in Bethlehem, we — and they — find the God who came to be with us in seasons of silence and sound.

Holiday Fun at Commanders Mansion’s Whoville Jubilee & Tree Lighting

Watertown’s Commander’s Mansion shone with lights and welcomed hundreds of families for the 2022 Whoville Jubilee and Tree Lighting on Saturday. Visitors entered through an arch of lights, and were welcomed to the event by the Mayor of Whoville (City Council Vice President Vincent Piccirilli). Food trucks served up goodies to hungry visitors, and free hot cocoa and cookies were provided for those feeling a bit peckish.

Revels is back in Sanders Theatre for its 52nd annual December production, Midwinter Revels: A Solstice Celebration – Tales from Ellis Island, which explores the unique dynamics between Irish, Jewish, and Mexican cultures at 1920s Ellis Island. One of Greater Boston’s most cherished holiday productions, Midwinter Revels’ multi-generational cast joyously brings traditions to life through music, dance, and song. Midwinter Revels: A Solstice Celebration takes place on Christmas Eve in the 1920s on Ellis Island, where a delay in processing requires new arrivals from Ireland and Jewish immigrants from Russia and Germany to spend an extended period of time together. Inspired by their children and by the Mexican nurses in charge of their care, the families slowly transcend their differences and build a rapport through music, dance and puppetry.
