Ryan Abo completed the 26.2 miles from Hopkinton to Copley Square in 2:44:14, and was the 988th fastest overall and 940th fastest male runner. Erin Jaffke ran the course in 3:11:56, which made her the 875th fastest woman in the 127th Marathon. Deborah Downs ran the 76th fastest time for female runners age 45-49, finishing in 3:17:34. Peter Tagge’s time of 4:00:17 was 251st ranked in male runners age 65-69.

Helicopters Flying Over Watertown for Marathon & on Friday for Search for Kayaker

Helicopters have been flying over the Watertown area this weekend, both in preparation for the Boston Marthon and in the search for a kayaker reported missing . Friday night a State Police helicopter patrolled over Watertown after a kayaker was reported missing. The man was later found safe at his home,.according tonl Watertown Police, who assisted with the search. The City of Watertown announced that helicopters will be flying over Watertown from in the days leading up to the Boston Marathon as well as Marathon Monday. The City sent out the following announcement:

Even though the Boston Marathon does not go through Watertown, if you see low flying helicopters in the sky, please be aware that they are conducting surveillance/safety checks along the Marathon route.

Watertown Man Running First Marathon in Honor of Friend Lost to Gun Violence

This special $15 Marathon Pass is available for purchase beginning April 10 through April 17 on the mTicket app and from ticket offices at North, South, and Back Bay Stations. Along with more than 500 Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge teammates from across the United States and around the world, they will run Massachusetts’ historic marathon route from Hopkinton to Boston to collectively raise $6.5 million for cancer research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This year marks the 34th annual running of the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge (DFMC). One hundred percent of the money raised by the Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge team benefits Dana-Farber’s Claudia Adams Barr Program in Innovative Basic Cancer Research, which supports promising science research in its earliest stages. The Dana-Farber Marathon Challenge has raised more than $115 million for the Barr Program to date. In 1990, Dana-Farber was among the first charity organizations to be recognized by the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A), which organizes the Boston Marathon.

Watertown Runner One of Fastest Women in 2022 Boston Marathon, See How Other Locals Fared

A Watertown woman finished among the top female runners in the 2022 Boston Marathon. She was one of more than a dozen runners to run the race on Patriots Day

Elaina Tabb finished 16th in the women’s race with a time of 2:31:34. She was also the 174th fastest runner, overall. In 2021, Tabb finished 12th in the women’s race. The fastest male runner from Watertown was Matthew Farkas, who finished 346th in the men’s race, and 368th overall.

Watertown Woman Running Marathon for YMCA of Greater Boston

Linda Asadoorian of Watertown will be running the 2022 Boston Marathon as a member of the YMCA of Greater Boston’s marathon team. Asadoorian will be raising money to support the YMCA of Greater Boston’s teen programs, such as the Achievers program, Youth and Government and Leaders Club. Teens count on the Y for academic assistance, employment, life skills advancement and healthy fun. “Having worked for the YMCA of Greater Boston for over half a decade, I have seen firsthand the powerful impact that the Y’s programs have on our communities’ young people,” said Asadoorian. “Running for the Y of Greater Boston is such an honor, and I hope that it inspires others be proactive in ensuring that teens have access to the academic and interpersonal support, leadership development, nutritious foods and safe space for fun and learning that the YMCA of Greater Boston provides.”

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis in March 2020, the YMCA of Greater Boston provided employment for over 900 teens, elevating their self-worth and self-confidence.
