OBIT: Rev. Michael Clark, 76, Former Pastor of United Methodist Church in Watertown

Rev. Michael Clark

Rev. Mike Clark was born in Reading, Pennsylvania in 1948, to Paul C. Clark and Kathryn E. Clark. He graduated from Albright College in 1970 with a B.A. and from Lancaster Theological Seminary in 1975 with an M.Div. Ordained in 1975, he spent the first 24 years of his ministry working in church-related social justice assignments, including the United Church Board for World Ministries, the Interfaith Center on Corporate Responsibility, the Riverside Church Disarmament Program (while William Sloane Coffin was serving as Senior Pastor, and Witness for Peace in Nicaragua). He also worked as a community organizer in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. In 1999 he began working in United Methodist settings in New England, first as an intentional interim and later as pastor.

With her pert Boston accent and indefatigable can-do attitude, Kathleen Cunningham welcomes visitors into the basement of the Belmont-Watertown United Methodist Church. It’s a big open space, with low ceilings, pink walls, some generous storage space and an older industrial kitchen. It’s also very obviously crumbling. Construction tape blocks off part of the kitchen.

Evening of Music in Watertown Raising Money for Immigrant Legal Fund

The event organizers provided the following information:

The public is invited to Hearts for Homes – an evening of music ranging from Country to Classical at the Belmont-Watertown United Methodist Church. 

The event features Nashville singer-songwriter Hugh Moffat, the four-hand piano power couple Yilin You and Paul Jacobs, and the trombone stylings of Kirk Kolenbrander. The event is a fundraiser for New England Justice for Our Neighbors, a Methodist ministry which provides free legal services to low and no income immigrants. WHEN: Saturday, Feb 15, 7:00 PM

WHERE: Belmont-Watertown United Methodist Church, 80 Mt Auburn St, Watertown, MA. 

COST: $15

Local Church Hosting Valentine’s Fundraiser for Group That Helps Immigrants

The Belmont-Watertown United Methodist Church will host Hearts for Homes: An Evening of Music and Refreshments on Saturday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m.

The event will raise money for the New England Justice for Our Neighbors, a group that supports clinics that provide free and quality legal services to low income immigrants. The suggested donation for the event is $15. Heart for Homes will take place at the Belmont-Watertown United Methodist Church, Watertown Campus at 80 Mt. Auburn St., Watertown.
