A huge second-half comeback fell just short for the Watertown boys basketball team, and the Raiders lost at home to Hamilton-Wenham, 45-41, Sunday afternoon. The fourth-seeded Watertown (16-6) faced a 12 point halftime deficit in the MIAA Div. 3 North Section Quarterfinal against the fifth-seeded Generals.

The Raiders made the long trip to Amesbury Friday night, and had a good start, but ended up losing 49-31 to the second seed in the Div.

BOSTON — The Raiders faced a talented Boston Latin Academy team, but Watertown girls basketball coach Pat Ferdinand said that his team remained cool under pressure and pulled away for the 46-36 win. The MIAA Div.
Watertown senior guard Gevork Karapetyan and the Raiders got the fourth seed in the Div. 3 North Section tournament and will host a first round game. Watertown High School will have three teams in the state tournament brackets this winter, with both the boys and girls basketball teams along with the boys hockey team being seeded by the MIAA state committee on Friday. The Raiders boys basketball team took the highest seed, slotting in fourth in the Div. 3 North Section bracket.

Despite losing the regular season finale, the Watertown High School boys basketball team looks poised for the State Tournament. Before the 68-42 loss to Winchester Tuesday night, the Raiders had a nine game winning streak. Watertown ended the regular season with a record of 15-6, and Head Coach Steve Harrington expects the Raiders to get a three or four seed in the MIAA Div. 3 North tournament.
“We will get a home game and hopefully we’ll win and get a second game,” Harrington said.

Women’s Basketball – Open Gym
This is a drop-in women’s basketball program designed to provide exercise and fun for adult women.
New Day captured the 2018 Watertown Summer Basketball League title. They will be one of eight teams battling for the 2019 title. The playoffs begin Monday, Aug. 12. It’s playoff time for the Watertown’s Summer Basketball League, and March Madness in August begins with four games Monday night.
