FRAMINGHAM — Watertown High School is heading back to the MIAA Div. 3 Boys Basketball State Final after beating Tech Boston 64-57 Tuesday night. The Raiders jumped out to a big first half lead, controlling the first half, with a styffling defense and strong rebounding.

After watching a 20 point lead whittle down to five, the Watertown High School boys basketball team kept its cool and finished off New Mission in the MIAA Div. 3 Round of 8 State Tournament game Saturday night, 64-57. Seventh- seeded New Mission (11-4) dug a little into the lead in the third quarter which ended with the Raiders holding a 15 point lead, (47-32).

It took some time for the members of the Watertown boys basketball team to find their shooting touch, but when they did the Raiders rained down the three pointers and put away North Reading in the Round of 16 MIAA Div. 3 State Tournament game Tuesday night. The first half saw most of the Raiders shots from behind the arc miss. The only player with a three pointer was senior Tyler Timperio.

A State Tournament game that was neck and neck most of the way appeared to be slipping away for the Watertown High School girls basketball team, falling behind six points with about two minutes left. But, the team and the WHS Gym came to life as the Raiders closed the game and senior Sophia Garapetian completed the comeback with a drive straight down the lane. When the final buzzer sounded, Watertown’s players came together on the court to celebrate their 54-52 win over Norton in the MIAA Div. 3 Round of 16 game, and kept their season alive.

Watertown’s Tyler Timperio scored 20 points for the Raiders and fellow senior Pierre Paul Labossiere added 19 in the 54-39 win over Medway in the first round of the MIAA Div. 3 boys basketball tournament on Friday night. A third senior, Adam Patterson, scored in double figures to help the second-seeded Raiders pull away from the 34th-seeded Mustangs.
