NikeInside the new Nike Unite store at Arsenal Yards. One of the most visible spaces at Arsenal Yards will be filled by one of the biggest names in athletic clothing and gear. The new Nike Unite Watertown store opens Saturday, Aug. 7, in one of the buildings that was part of the original Watertown Arsenal. “As part of the Nike Unite concept, which reimagines our factory store vision, Nike Unite Watertown is a 15,998-square-foot home court for local Nike members, serving as our most valuable destination for sport and product inspiration in the communities we serve,” said the announcement from Nike.

Celebrity Chef Opens New Orleans Inspired Restaurant in Watertown

One of Boston’s celebrity chefs brought his New Orleans inspired cuisine to Watertown, where he had his first opportunity to build a restaurant from scratch. Buttermilk & Bourbon officially opens on Monday, Aug. 9, but chef and owner Jason Santos hosted an opening night celebration on Aug. 5 at his newest location at Arsenal Yards.

Head to Watertown’s Arsenal Yards and shop local at the Wicked Dog Apparel Pop-Up Shop open Thursdays through Sundays now through the fall at 101 Arsenal Yards Blvd., next to Ben & Jerry’s. Launched in 2016 and inspired by a love of Boston, good times, and man’s best friend, Wicked Dog has set up shop at Watertown’s Arsenal Yards in the space next to Ben & Jerry’s. The pop-up is open weekly Thursday–Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and is selling a variety of apparel for folks of all ages including shirts, pullovers, hats, bags, sneakers, and more.

California-Based Super Food Eatery Opening Cafe in Watertown

Vitality Bowls, the leading health-food restaurant concept which specializes in açaí bowls and smoothies, has signed a lease with local entrepreneur Tim Johnson to open two new superfood cafés in Watertown and Cambridge. Johnson is planning for a 2021 opening at 425 Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge and 113 Bond Street in Watertown’s Arsenal Yards. The health-focused fast casual restaurant will grant local residents, professionals and visitors access to an assortment of nutrient-dense foods not found elsewhere. “I’m thrilled to open my cafés in Central Square in Cambridge and at Arsenal Yards in Watertown, and to bring healthy and delicious food options to the community,” said Johnson, a seasoned professional with a wealth of sales and operations experience.

Pure Barre Holding Soft Opening in Watertown, Free Classes for Limited Time

Arsenal Yards announced that Pure Barre, the largest barre concept in North America, is officially opening the doors to its new studio space located at 53 Bond Street on Monday, June 21. Pure Barre delivers an effective total body workout focused on its proprietary low-impact, high intensity movements that lift and tone muscles to improve strength, agility, and flexibility for every body. The new Pure Barre studio at Arsenal Yards will celebrate with a “soft opening” from June 21 – June 27. Members-only classes will be offered Monday, June 21, through Wednesday, June 23, followed by free classes open to the community from Thursday, June 24, through Sunday, June 27. As part of the soft opening celebration, the Arsenal Yards studio is offering an unlimited membership of classes for 20% off the first three months. Arsenal Yards Hosting Picnics in the Park During the Summer With Live Music, Cash Bar

With summer in full swing, Arsenal Yards invites area residents and visitors to get outside and enjoy a “Picnic in the Park.” As part of the new 21+ event series, guests are encouraged to pick up takeout from any of the delicious restaurants at Arsenal Yards, enjoy beer or wine from the cash bar, and meet on the River Green for live music on select dates now through August. With a schedule packed with a variety of local performers, musical acts include Joe Carson, The Soul Monstahs, and more! All events will have a cash bar serving beer and wine, and registration is required through Eventbrite. Online registration opens two weeks prior to the event date and attendees must be 21 or older. Reservations are available for groups of 2 – 6 people with a small fee of $2 per person benefiting a different local Watertown organization each month. For the month of June all proceeds benefit the Watertown Food Pantry.
