Summer is officially in bloom at Watertown’s Arsenal Yards! Shops and restaurants have been opening up – including recent additions like Ben & Jerry’s and City Works Eatery & Pour House – and Arsenal Yards’ outdoor Rivergreen space is well underway as construction continues. To celebrate all of these happenings, Arsenal Yards has injected some extra color onto the concrete amidst the construction with the launch of a new “Petals to the Metal” public art and music installation. With this new installation, complete with beautiful floral takeovers and live piano performances, Arsenal Yards invites shoppers, diners and visitors to stop by and enjoy the ambiance while shopping, grabbing an ice cream, or enjoying dinner and a drink.

Arsenal Yards Collects Hundreds of Items for Watertown Food Pantry

Some of the 750 items collected during the Arsenal Yards Neighborhood Pickup. They will go to the Watertown Food Pantry. The following announcement was provided by Arsenal Yards:

Last week, Arsenal Yards held a Neighborhood Pickup event, during which they invited members of the local community to drop off a donation to the Watertown Food Pantry in exchange for a tie dye swag bag full of perks from Arsenal Yards retailers, along with crafts and surprises from Arsenal Yards. There was an overwhelmingly great response for the food donations, with more than 750 items being donated, along with some cash donations. The team from Arsenal Yards delivered the donations to the Watertown Food Pantry on Tuesday, July 28 (photos attached), and would like to send a huge thank you to the local community and to all who came and donated for their generosity.

Watertown Restaurant Holding Grand Opening at Arsenal Yards

Staff at City Works Eatery & Pour House are ready to welcome diners at the Watertown location. The following announcement was provided by Bottleneck Management:

After the COVID-19 pandemic stalled its opening to the public, Bottleneck Management announces the official grand opening of City Works Eatery & Pour House at 91 Arsenal Yards Blvd. on Wednesday, July 22 at 4 p.m.

City Works was scheduled to open its doors in Watertown on March 13 after its First Draft soft opening event raised $4,338 for the Greater Boston Food Bank. Four months past its original opening date, City Works in Arsenal Yards remains a vibrant and energetic restaurant with a focus on classic American food and an expansive beer and beverage list. With a spacious interior (8,429 square feet), three 110” HDTVs and 12 65” HDTVs, and outdoor patio (1,172 square feet) with socially distanced tables, semi-private dining areas, and over 90 craft beer handles and eight wines on draft, City Works offers something for everyone this summer. “It’s so exciting to be able to officially open our doors, bring our employees back on, and begin serving our guests in Watertown, safely and in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and our local authorities,” says Angela Zoiss, Vice President of Marketing for Bottleneck Management.

Arsenal Yards Eatery Latest to Get Outdoor Seating Permit

City Works Pour House Eatery will be coming to the Arsenal Yards, featuring 90 different beers and indoor and outdoor seating. The City Works Eatery & Pour House received permission to have temporary outdoor seating during the COVID-19 pandemic, giving Watertown 11 restaurants which have received the permits. The permits have been given as part of an effort to increase the seating at restaurants, which have had their seating restricted due to the state’s COVID-19 guidelines. Tables must be at least 6 feet apart and parties can be no bigger than six. As of June 22, restaurants can seat diners indoors, but the same social distancing requirements apply.

Watertown Adds New Ice Cream Option, Loses a Restaurant

Watertown residents can now grab their favorite Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavors at the Scoop Shop at Arsenal Yards. You win some and you lose some — in this case Watertown food options. Arsenal Yards welcomed Ben & Jerry’s this week, in a small building of its own near the City Works Eatery & Pour House and The Majestic 7 movie theater. For now, the “Scoop Shop” is only open for take out and delivery due to COVID-19 restrictions

Farther down Arsenal Street, Miller’s Ale House has closed. The Watertown location, which opened in early 2012, no longer appears on the list of restaurants on the Miller’s Ale House website, and Katie Sullivan, Marketing Director for the developers of Arsenal Yards — Boylston Properties, confirmed that Miller’s has shut its doors.

Grant, Mitigation Funds Will Help Pay for Arsenal Park Renovations, See Project Details

A drawing of the proposed renovation for the eastern section of Arsenal Park, near the Arsenal Yards development. The Town Council will be asked to consider funding a $1.65 million renovation of a section of Arsenal Park, but the Town will get some help paying for the project from a grant and mitigation money from the next door Arsenal Yards project. The Town received a $200,000 Housing Choice Capital Grant, which will be applied to the first phase of the Arsenal Park project, along with $500,000 in mitigation funds paid by Arsenal Yards developers Boylston Properties, Town Manager Michael Driscoll said. He added the construction bids may come in lower due to the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, so the might be lower than the original $1.65 million budget. The Town Council voted unanimously to let Town officials put the project out to bid.

Arsenal Park Renovation Plans to be Presented at Town Council Meeting

The proposed renovation of the eastern section of Arsenal Park will be presented to the Town Council Tuesday night in a meeting to be held online. Project designers from CDM Smith will present the plans for the $1.6 million project during the May 12 Council meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. The agenda item is an informational presentation, and no vote will be taken. The meeting will be televised and the public can join by computer or phone (info below). The section of the park being discussed is Phase A, which is the section of the park that abuts the Arsenal Yards property.
