Police Log: Man Eats His Way to Arrest, Woman’s Bingo Bag Stolen

June 3, 2:20 p.m.: A man was seen walking through Stop & Shop in Watertown Square, taking food off the shelf and eating it while he browsed through the store. He was also seen putting items in a backpack and then attempted to walk out without paying. The 48-year-old Boston man was arrested for shoplifting, a second offense. June 3, 7:50 p.m.: A witness saw a Jeep SUV strike a curb on School Street.

Pharmacist Assists Watertown Police in Bust of Man for Using False Prescriptions

Watertown Police charged a man for using false prescriptions, and received help from an alert pharmacist. Just after midnight on June 1, a man came into CVS on Main Street and presented two prescriptions for Adderall, according to Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. “The pharmacist identified the prescriptions to be false due to wording,” O’Connor said. “Because he didn’t want to tip off the suspect (the pharmacist) said the prescription would be ready in 20 minutes and contacted police.” When police arrived, the man had left CVS, but they were able to identify him because the man had presented a driver’s license when he gave the pharmacist the prescriptions, O’Connor said.

Police Log: Man Causes Four Car Accident, Hundreds Worth of Underwear Stolen

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests
May 28, 12:05 a.m.: A man driving down Main Street struck a car parked near Whites Avenue, which then struck two more parked vehicles. Police arrived and saw a man standing next to the vehicle that triggered the accident. The man told police said he looked down to find a cigarette lighter and he crashed into the parked vehicle. The officer smelled alcohol on the man’s breath and gave field sobriety tests.

Police Log: Men Face Charges After Drug Deal Goes Awry, Woman Uses Stolen Plates

The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department. Arrests
May 6, 9 a.m.: Police received information that a man working at the Colonial GMC dealership was wanted on a warrant. The 30-year-old Jamaica Plain man was arrested on two warrants for larceny, one from Waltham District Court and one from Brighton District Court. May 9, 7:20 a.m.: An officer spotted a vehicle run a red light on Watertown Street at California Street. When the officer ran the registration the plates came back as stolen from Revere.

2 Women Caught Running a Shoe Theft Ring at Marshalls

Police busted two women who tried to return shoes at the Marshalls in the Arsenal Mall which they had taken from another location of the store. 

On the afternoon of May 5, security at Marshalls spotted two women in line, and bother were seen returning shoes for gift cards, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. One woman returned two pairs of shoes and got a gift card for $698, O’Connor said. The second woman, identified as Brianna Andrews of Dracut, returned two pieces of clothing and two pairs of shoes for a total of $372.97, which she received on a gift card. “When she was leaving she picked up three notebooks off the sales counter and concealed them in her pocketbook,” O’Connor said. “She tried to leave without paying but she was detained by security.”
