Man Faces Charges After Stabbing Dog That Attacked His Dog

A Watertown man faces criminal charges after he allegedly stabbed a dog that was attacking his dog and would not release it. On Feb. 13, just before 6:30 p.m., police received a report of a fight between two dogs at Filippello Park. When they arrived the two owners, one who had a dog about 20-25 pounds in size, and the other had two dogs that were 40-50 pounds each. The men had been walking along a path in the park when the altercation happened, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor.

Man Who Abandoned Dog Faces Animal Cruelty Charges

A man faces charges of animal cruelty after he allegedly abandoned a dog in Watertown. On Nov. 7, 2019, a Prentiss Street resident found a malnourished dog on her doorstep in East Watertown. The resident contacted Watertown Animal Control officer Karen O’Reilly, who began an investigation into the case, said Watertown Police Lt. James O’Connor. “The Animal Control Officer took custody of the dog and described the dog as ‘every bone of his body was visible to the eye,'” O’Connor said.

Animal Control Investigating Dead Cat Found in Bag in Charles River

The Charles River near Watertown Square. A resident walking along the Charles River in Watertown spotted a trash bag with a dead cat inside, Watertown’s Animal Control Officer reported. The bag was discovered on Thursday, Jan. 30, but someone walking on the California Street side of the river. The bag was weighed down by a rock, according to Karen O’Reilly, Watertown’s Animal Control Officer.

Watertown Police Seeking Owner of Starving Dog Found at Home Depot

Watertown Police seek help finding the owners of the severely undernourished dog that was found at Home Depot in town. 

The pit bull was found early Saturday morning and was “all skin and bones,” according to a report on WHDH Channel 7 (read the whole story and see a picture here). The dog, which is being called “Sully Doe” also had other injuries, according to police. “He has numerous lesions that may be cigarette burns and each ear has had a small notch cut into them. He weighs in at 26 pounds which is less than half of what a healthy weight would be for this breed,” Police announced. Once Sully gains enough weight, he will be put up for adoption.
