Practices are twice a week, times and days determined by volunteer parent coach(es). Games are on Saturdays. BAYS games schedule comes out late August.

New Watertown Football Coach Works to Bond With Team, Build Excitement Around the Program

The first official football game is more than four months away, but new Watertown High School football coach Joe Carroll has been busy trying to bond with players, prep them for the upcoming season, and create a team culture. Since he was hired in February, Carroll has been making the most of the time he has with the team in preparation for his first season as a head coach. He takes over the Raiders after serving as assistant coach at Waltham High School for five years. Carroll has put together a schedule and to-do list to keep him focused, and each day he tries to check a few things off the list.

1 Watertown Wrestler First to Compete at Nationals, Another Places at Tourney in New York

A pair of Watertown wrestlers continued their seasons past the state meet, and one made the first appearance and collected the first win by a Raider wrestler at High School Nationals. Senior Tommy Dicker traveled to Virginia Beach, Virginia, on April 5 and 6 to compete at the NHSCA High School Nationals.

See How Runners From Watertown Finished in the 2024 Boston Marathon

The fastest Watertown runner in the 2024 Boston Marathon finished in under 2 hours 35 minutes on Monday, and the fastest female runner finished in the top 115 in the women’s race. Thirty residents of Watertown started the 128th Boston Marathon. As of 5:13 p.m., 28 of the local runners had finished the race. Michael Creedon was the top male finisher, and completed the 26.2 miles in 2:34:49. He was the 207th fastest man in the race and 229th fastest overall.

Pass the Torch: Youth Sports Equipment Reuse Rally at Watertown Fitness Studio

On April 27, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m at 25 Clarendon St., Watertown, MA, the community is invited to drop off lightly loved sports equipment their kids have outgrown. Then from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., community members are invited to shop for free sports equipment. To celebrate the launch of Turf, a new online marketplace for recreational programs, camps, and other activities, Turfgo, LLC and Get Lively® Heath & Fitness have teamed up to help community members share lightly loved sports equipment. Participants are asked to drop their sports equipment at the Get Lively® Health & Fitness Studio between the hours of 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. only. “Working parents need a hand finding programs for their kids whether it’s to feed their kids’ curiosity and cultural development, improve sports and team skills, or simply finding creative child care options,” said Michelle Tempesta, founder of Turf.

Players & Buddies Wanted for Watertown Challenger Baseball

Registration is officially open for the 2024 Challenger baseball season. 

The first day will be Sunday April 28 10 a.m. at BB&N field (next to Filippello Park). 

Watertown Challenger Baseball program allows children with special needs to participate in little league baseball in a safe environment.  We are eagerly looking for players & “buddies” to help athletes.  

What is Challenger Baseball? The Challenger Baseball League is a program for developmentally and physically challenged youth (age 8-21), helping them to enjoy the full benefits of baseball in an athletic environment structured to their abilities.

Youth Sports Success: Girls Youth Basketball Wins Tourney, Wrestler Places 2nd at States

Youth athletes from Watertown enjoyed some success recently, both on the basketball court and on the wrestling mat. Basketball

The Watertown Youth Basketball Fifth Grade Girls Travel Team won the Metrowest Youth Basketball Division 3 Championship last weekend. The team is coached by Head Coach Lee Haley and Assistant Coach Mark McAndrew. 

Watertown beat Raynham 34-15 in the final of the tournament that included 14 teams. The team got a bye in the first round, defeated Waltham 31-16 in the second round, and won its third round game against Walpole, 40-23.

Watertown Girls Battles Tough Newburyport in Basketball Tourney

WALTHAM — The State Tournament run for the Watertown girls basketball team ended Tuesday night after running into a team that had already beaten a higher seed in the MIAA Div. 3 Tournament. Newburyport, the 27th seed, made a second half run to defeat the 11th-seeded Raiders 56-48 in a game played at Waltham High School.
