Watertown Wrestler Wins All-State Championship

Watertown junior Tessa Master made history Saturday, winning an All-State title and moving on to the New England Championships. A week after winning the MIAA Div. 3 title in the 152 pound division, Master shut out her first two opponents in the All-State Meet and pinned Nadia Lebron of Salem in the final to take the title. Through the season, Master wrestled mostly against boys as part of the Raiders’ wrestling squad.

Watertown Relay Races to High Finish at State Indoor Track Meet

Watertown High School’s girls distance relay team competed with some of the best in the state, and finished in a point-scoring position at the MIAA Div. 4 Indoor State Meet at the Reggie Lewis Track on Sunday. Last year, the relay finished second at the State Indoor Meet, only to be disqualified after the race.

Watertown Wrestlers Excel at State Meet, Make All-States

Watertown wrestlers grabbed first and second place finishes at the MIAA Div. 3 State Meet over the weekend. Watertown junior Tessa Master won the girls 152 pound division, shutting out both of her opponents on the way to her first place finish in the meet at Wakefield High School.

Last weekend, not just one, but two Watertown High School wrestlers — senior Tommy Dicker and junior Brady Gleason — won their division at the MIAA Div. 3 Sectional meet.

Watertown High School Athletes Gearing Up for State Tourney, Some Along Side Belmont Players

Watertown High School’s winter sports teams are all on track to make the State Tournament in 2024, and even one group that doesn’t have a team of its own will be playing in the post season. The Raiders girls basketball team, under first year head coach Michael Tempesta, has put together two four-game winning streaks on the way to a 10-4 record. Most recently Watertown defeated Stoneham 53-34 at Watertown Middle School (the Raiders home court during the construction of the new high school).

Three Watertown Field Hockey Players Make All-Scholastic Team, Head Coach Honored

Three Watertown field hockey players made the All-Scholastic teams for one or both of the Boston Globe and Boston Herald for their play in 2023, and their coach also received recognition. Senior Molly Driscoll made the All-Scholastic teams for both the Globe and Herald, and the Globe named her the Div.

Gold Kings Victorious in First Ever Game in New Hockey League

The Boston Gold Kings made a successful debut, defeating the Holyoke Papermen 6-3 on home ice at the John A. Ryan Arena in Watertown. Saturday night’s game was the first ever in the brand new Union Hockey League. The Gold Kings’ first goal was scored by Jarrod Fitzpatrick. The semi-pro team is made up of players with experience in the minor leagues, college, and juniors. The Gold Kings celebrated the first victory on social media saying:

“First win in the books for the Gold Kings in our home opener! @jarrod_fitzpatrick scores the first goal in BGK history.

Watertown’s Semi-Pro Hockey Team Features Former Pros, College Players and Even Rec League Skaters

For some, playing for the Boston Gold Kings is a second chance to keep their hockey career going, for others being on the semi-pro team based out of Watertown is the first time playing with an organized adult team, and it’s fun for all. The first game for the Boston Gold Kings will be at Ryan Arena on Saturday, Jan.
