Watertown Field Hockey Returns to the State Final with Victory over Pentucket

READING — The Raiders are back where they have been so many times before — the field hockey State Final — after defeating Pentucket 1-0 on Wednesday night. The trip, however, will be the first for the current Watertown players. A goal by freshman Adrianna Williams 3:39 into the first quarter provided early breathing room for second seeded Watertown (22-0) in the MIAA Div.

Watertown’s runners and swimmers competed at the state level this weekend, showing they could compete with the best in the Bay State. Cross Country

The Watertown girls and boys cross country teams ran in the MIAA Div. 2 meet in Gardner on Saturday, and a sophomore placed among the top finishers. Anna Lonergan finished in eighth place in the girls Div. 2 race.

Four goals by sophomore Molly Driscoll led Watertown in its 6-0 defeat of Dover-Sherborn in Saturday’s MIAA Div. 3 Round of Eight Field Hockey Tournament game. The Raiders added another trophy to its vast collection of awards with Saturday morning’s win at Victory Field. With the MIAA doing away with the sections, the Raiders got a trophy for making the Final Four.

Watertown’s round-of-16 State Tournament game against Oakmont was over by the end of the first quarter, as the Raiders beat the Spartans 6-0 at Victory Field on Wednesday afternoon. Two Watertown players collected a pair of goals, and one player scored her first varsity goal in the MIAA Div. 3 State Tournament game. DOVER — Watertown High School’s run of wins came to an end in the first round of the MIAA Div. 5 Football Playoffs, with a 21-7 loss at Dover-Sherborn. The Raiders (5-4) held the explosive Dover-Sherborn (8-1) offense scoreless early in the game, forcing a punt on the first drive and the second ending in a missed field goal.

Watertown High School Football Heads to Playoffs After Second Straight OT Win

Charlie BreitroseThe last time Watertown High School made the MIAA football playoffs in 2017 the Raiders made it all the way to the State Semifinals against Dennis-Yarmouth. For the second week in a row the Watertown High School football team triumphed in overtime. Next up for the Raiders is a road state playoff game. The Raiders wrapped up their regular season schedule with a 29-23 overtime win at Melrose.
