Watertown Rower Will Row for the Gold After His Crew Qualified for the Olympic Final

U.S. RowingWatertown’s Alexander Richards and the U.S. men’s eight boat qualified for the Olympic final. Team USA’s Men’s eight rowers, including Watertown’s own Alexander Richards, finished a close third late Tuesday night to book a spot in Thursday’s Olympic Final. Richards and the USA crew raced against Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand and Romania for spots in Thursday’s final at the Tokyo Olympics. The top four in the repechage race advanced to compete for medals. The Americans hit the 500 meter mark in third place, behind the Brits and New Zealand.

Watertown Boxer Expects Tough Competition in 3rd Pro Fight, Also Expecting First Child

On Friday, July 23, Watertown’s Rico DePaolis returns to the ring for his third professional fight, and this time the atmosphere will be a bit different. “To fight in front of a crowd at any level is great, but this is my first time as a pro,” DePaolis said. After making his professional debut in March — a first round technical knock out loss — DePaolis scored his first win as a pro in May with a first round TKO. Both events were limited to just the boxers and their trainers.

Registration Open for 2021 Youth Football & Cheerleading Fall Season

Youth football players and cheerleaders can register for the Fall 2021 season with Watertown Belmont Youth Football & Cheer. Practices will begin on Monday, Aug. 29, and are held Monday to Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Moxley Field in Watertown. See more information and register at wbyouthfootball.com/site

Cheerleading Grades 1st – 8

Non-Contact Flag Football Grades 1st – 2nd

Tackle Football Grades 3rd – 8th

Divisions are then broken down into teams by grade level:

Registration fees are as follows:

Flag (1st & 2nd grade) – $75

Crusader (3rd & 4th grade) – $120

Spartan (5th & 6th grade) – $170

Gladiator (7th & 8th grade) – $170

Cheerleading – $100

*Please note cheerleading is broken into teams by grade level the same as above*

Once again, this year, your registration fee will include a baseline ImPACT test for each athlete.
