The second-seeded Raiders defeated 34th seeded South Shore Tech 12-0 at John Ryan Arena on Saturday night. Trio of Seniors Lead Watertown Boys Basketball Team to Tourney Victory Over Medway

Charlie BreitroseWatertown Senior Tyler Timperio drives against Medway in Friday’s State Tournament game. He led the Raiders with 20 points in the first round victory. Watertown’s Tyler Timperio scored 20 points for the Raiders and fellow senior Pierre Paul Labossiere added 19 in the 54-39 win over Medway in the first round of the MIAA Div. 3 boys basketball tournament on Friday night. A third senior, Adam Patterson, scored in double figures to help the second-seeded Raiders pull away from the 34th-seeded Mustangs.

Watertown Girls Basketball Team Dominates Second Half to Win Tourney Game

Charlie BreitroseWatertown senior Taylor Lambo led the Raiders in with 17 points in the victory in the first round of the State Tournament over Greater Lowell Tech. The State Tournament got started on a positive note for the Watertown High School girls basketball team with a 53-28 win over Greater Lowell Tech on Friday night. The 26th-seeded Gryphons kept the game close in the first half, trailing by four after the first quarter. But seventh-seeded Watertown got a trio of three pointers from senior Ellie Monahan — two before halftime and one after — to help the Raiders pull away for the win in the first round of the MIAA Div. 3 State Tournament.

Watertown High School sent wrestlers to both the boys and girls State Wrestling tournament, and a pair of wrestlers made runs in their bracket. Four girls from Watertown participated in the All-State Meet, which was held in Fitchburg on Feb. 26 and 27. While nearly a dozen members of the boys’ team wrestled at the Div. 3 North Meet, with one advancing to sectionals.

Watertown Hockey Teams Heading to State Tournament, Boys Earn High Seed

Charlie BreitroseWatertown is back in the MIAA State Hockey Tournament, this time as the second seed in the boys bracket. The Raiders boys and girls hockey team both earned berths into the MIAA State Tournament, and the boys squad has been seeded near the top of its bracket. Watertown High School’s boys team will host the winner of the game between 31st seeded Saint John Paul II and 34th seeded South Shore Tech in the first round of the Div. 4 Boys Hockey Tournament. The Raiders finished with a record of 10-9-1, and benefited from the strength of schedule in the MIAA seeding system.

Taylor Lambo Joins Watertown Girls Basketball’s Elite 1,000 Point Club

A 33 point performance in just three quarters on Saturday vaulted Watertown High School senior Taylor Lambo over the 1000-point mark in the Raiders’ victory over Weston. Lambo knew she was approaching the four-figure mark before the game in the WHS Gym, but she wasn’t given word by Watertown Girls Basketball Coach Pat Ferdinand until just before she reached 1,000. “I had talked to him about it, I wasn’t super close to it, so it wasn’t definite that I was going to hit it,” Lambo said. “He didn’t even tell me until like two points before, and he was like, ‘Your next layup is 1,000.’

Watertown Sophomore Finishes Among Top Runners at Divisional Meet

BOSTON — While just a sophomore, Watertown High School’s Anna Lonergan ran one of the fastest miles at the MIAA Div. 5 Meet at the Reggie Lewis Track Athletic Center on Friday evening. She finished sixth place at the meet where she competed against the best runners from around Massachusetts of similar size to WHS.
