Herald Picks Members of Watertown’s Boys, Girls Basketball Teams as Players to Watch

Four Watertown basketball players made the Boston Herald’s preseason Players to Watch lists, two from the boys team and a couple members of the girls team. A pair of sister made the list for the Div. 3 girls basketball 2021-22 season: senior Taylor and sophomore Lily Lambo.

Registration Open for Waltham/Watertown Youth Lacrosse Season

The following announcement was provided by Waltham/Watertown Boys Youth Lacrosse:

Registration for Waltham/Watertown Boys Youth Lacrosse is open! We are looking for new andexperienced players from grades K-8 to join the Waltham/Watertown Lacrosse community. Practices are held one-to-two weekday nights per week (and/or Saturday mornings) dependingon age group. Practices, weather and COVID guidelines permitting, will begin in March withgames scheduled to begin in early April. We know folks may have questions/concerns regarding the coming season.

Watertown Feasts on Belmont During Shutout Win in the Thanksgiving Game

Charlie BreitroseWatertown senior Nathan Master celebrates after the Raiders defense stopped Belmont during the Thanksgiving Game. Senior Mason Andrade set the tone for Watertown by pancaking a Belmont blocker on the opening kickoff of the annual Thanksgiving Day football game. The Raiders continued to pound the Marauders all game, emerging with a 25-0 win over their rivals. Watertown improved to 7-4, winning four of their last five games, and snapped a two-game losing streak to Belmont. The game was not played last year.

New Youth Soccer Club Enjoys Success During the Fall Season

Rush RaidersThe U10 Rush Raiders won the Pre-Thanksgiving Invitational hosted by Juventus Academy Boston. The following announcement was provided by the Rush Raiders Football Club:

The newly formed Rush Raiders Football Club closed their fall season this month with strong performances across their three teams: Girls U12, Boys U11, and Boys U10. The soccer squads competed in the New England Club Soccer League, playing other club teams across Massachusetts and New Hampshire under the direction of Club Director Frank Cacia and coaches Dan D’Amico, Zerek Bianchi, and Justin Makisimu. This was the inaugural year for the Girls U12 team, made up of 4th-6th graders from Watertown. The girls worked hard from the start and have a lot of potential to build for the future.

WHS Sports: Field Hockey Title Has Family Ties, Cross Country Runner Competes at State Meet, Thanksgiving Game Ticket Info

Charlie BreitroseWatertown field hockey players and sisters Maggie Driscoll, a junior; and Molly Driscoll, a sophomore; pose with their parents Patty Grady and Tim Driscoll after winning the State Championship on Saturday. Grady played on two State Title teams when she was at WHS. When the Watertown field hockey team won the State Championship for the 19th time in school history one family had not just one, but two members of the team plus another who was part of previous titles. Sophomore Molly Driscoll provided the assist on the winning goal scored by Elizabeth Loftus in double overtime. Her sister Maggie, a junior, was a co-captain for the 2021 Raiders.

HANOVER — Patience and hard work paid off for the Watertown High School field hockey team, Saturday. It took more than 77 minutes of play, but the Raiders prevailed 1-0 over Sandwich in the State Final. After a deadlocked hour of regulation play, Watertown and Sandwich went to overtime to decide who was the best team in MIAA Div.
