4 Watertown Athletes Garner Boston Globe All-Scholastic Honors

The Fall season had many highlights for Watertown High School teams — including a state championship and a rivalry victory at Fenway Park. For their role in the successful season, four Raiders received All-Scholastic honors from the Boston Globe.

Nearly 2 Dozen Watertown Athletes Named League All-Stars

The Watertown Public Schools announced that 23 Watertown Raiders athletes have been recognized by the Middlesex League as All-Stars for the Fall 2022 sports season. See the announcement below:

The state champion Raiders field hockey team saw five players pick up honors. Senior co-captains Lizzie Loftus and Maggie Driscoll were named to the All-Conference team and were crowned Co-MVPs of the Freedom Division. Junior Molly Driscoll also earned All-Conference honors.

Watertown Girls Basketball Looks to Build on Foundation Set by Prior Teams

Watertown High School’s girls basketball team will have to replace a couple big contributors from last season, but Head Coach Pat Ferdinand said he wants to build on the foundation the team built last year. Gone are 1,000+ point scorer Taylor Lambo and long-time starter Ellie Monahan, who were part of last year’s team that won a State Tournament game before falling to the eventual State Champion, St. Mary’s. The 2022-23 season got off to a good start on Tuesday night.

New Crew Looks to Continue Watertown Boys Basketball’s Success

Catherine WilliamsThe 2022-23 Watertown High School boys basketball team will look to continue its sucess. During introductions at the Raiders Hoop Night on Saturday, the Watertown High School boys basketball team had a new cast of headliners, but they hope to build on the success of last year’s State Finalist team. All five starters from a year ago graduated, but Watertown Head Basketball Coach Steve Harrington believes the 2022-23 Raiders will have success. The Raiders tip off their season Tuesday night when they host Arlington at 7 p.m.

“We lost ton of experience, leadership, playing time — the whole ball of wax,” Harrington said. “Luckily, we are filling it with a great group of guys who waited their turn.”

Watertown’s Taylor Lambo Garners 2 Honors for College Basketball Performances

Joshua McKeeHamilton College forward Taylor Lambo received honors from NESCAC and D3hoops.com. Lambo graduated from Watertown High School in 2022. The following information was provided by Hamilton College Athletics:

Hamilton College’s Taylor Lambo ’26 (Watertown, Mass./Watertown HS) was selected the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week and placed on the D3hoops.com Women’s Team of the Week on Monday, Dec. 5. Lambo posted season highs of 23 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in an 80-75 win against then-nationally ranked No.

“Inspirational” Watertown Field Hockey Team Honored by School Committee

Charlie BreitroseWatertown field hockey players celebrate a goal in the State Final win over Sandwich. The Raiders won back-to-back titles, and WHS’s 20th overall. After winning the State Championship for the 20th time, Watertown High School’s field hockey team received praise from the School Committee, and the players were called inspirations who represent the community well. The Raiders completed an undefeated, untied season on Nov. 19, defeating Sandwich in the MIAA Div.

Watertown Triumphs at Fenway in 100th Game Against Belmont

BOSTON — After letting their rivals from Belmont tie the score on the stroke of halftime, Watertown High School’s football team took control of in the second half to win an extra-special Thanksgiving eve game played under the lights at Fenway Park, 21-7. Watertown Head Coach John Cacace said he had a simple message to inspire the team at halftime. “It feels great man, we work all year to finish it up just like this and I’m so happy for our kids, the way we played the second half,” Cacace said. “I challenged them at  halftime to come out tougher and we did, man.”
