Winter Storm Could Make for a Messy Tuesday Afternoon & Commute

Snow will hit the Watertown area Tuesday afternoon and could make for a messy evening commute. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch from 2 p.m. Tuesday to 1 a.m. Wednesday. The precipitation will begin as snow and turn to sleet and then freezing rain. Forecasters at WBZ Channel 4 say that the area could get 3 to 6 inches of snow during the storm. Ice is possible Tuesday night, especially north and west of Rte.

Watertown Declares Snow Emergency for This Weekend’s Storm

A winter weather event is predicted with 8-10 inches of snow accumulation in our area. The Superintendent of Public Works has declared a snow emergency effective 6:00 p.m. Saturday January 19, 2019, and will remain in effect until further notice.

Snow Storm Forecast to Hit Watertown Area This Weekend

A storm with snow, sleet and possibly ice will roll through the area on Saturday evening into Sunday of Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for all of Massachusetts by the National Weather Service. Up to six inches of snow is possible in the area, according to the NWS warning, and ice accumulation is possible. The storm follows the coating of snow expected to fall Friday morning. WBZ Channel 4 weather forecasters anticipate snow to start around 8 p.m. on Saturday and the heaviest snowfall overnight.

Remnants of Hurricane Florence Could Cause Flooding in and Around Watertown

Torrential rain is expected to hit the area beginning late Monday and continuing through Tuesday night. The remnants of the hurricane that struck North Carolina is expected to drop 3 or more inches of rain. A Flash Flood Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for most of southern New England, including the Boston area. The watch is in effect from late on the evening of Sept. 17 through late on the night of Sept.

With another storm looming, the Department of Public Works has declared a snow emergency in Watertown. Vehicles will not be allowed to be parked on public streets, and could be towed. See more the announcement below:

A winter weather event is predicted with high winds and 6 to 10 inches of snow accumulation. The Superintendent of Public Works has declared a snow emergency effective 12 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018 and will remain in effect until further notice. There will be no delay in trash pickup.

Watertown Calls Snow Emergency for Nor’easter, Council Meeting Postponed

Tuesday’s Nor’easter has not arrived but has already closed town offices, and postponed events. 

The Watertown Public Schools will have a snow day on Tuesday, according to the district website. The Town of Watertown announced that Town Hall, the Watertown Free Public Library and the Senior Center will be closed Tuesday, and Tuesday night’s Town Council meeting has been postponed. It will be rescheduled to Thursday, March 15 at 7:15 p.m.

Also, the Watertown High School’s boys basketball team’s state semifinal will be postponed and moved. The game was moved to Burlington High School at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. A winter weather event is predicted with high winds and 10 plus inches of snow accumulation.

Another Nor’easter Heading Toward Watertown on Monday & Tuesday

Just when the Snow Emergency from the last storm was lifted another Nor’easter looms on the horizon for Watertown and the rest of Eastern Massachusetts. The  third snow storm this month is due to start hitting Monday and continue through Tuesday with half a foot or more of snow possible. 

The National Weather Services has issued a Winter Storm Watch from 11 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2018, to 6 p.m. on Tuesday. Forecasters from different TV stations have different predictions, but all say that Eastern Massachusetts is likely to get several inches of snow. WHDH Channel 7 weather forecasters say it will be 6-12 inches. WCVB Channel 5’s forecast says 5-10 inches, and WBZ Channel 4 predicts 6-9 inches. The snow will not be as wet and heavy as the last storm, and wind gusts of 25 mph are expected, according to the National Weather Service.

Mid-Week Nor’Easter Could Drop Half a Foot of Snow on Area

The second Nor’easter in less than a week could drop as much as 6 inches of snow on the Watertown area. The National Weather Services issued a Winter Storm Watch from 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, to 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 8. Snow will start falling lightly in the morning and the heaviest snowfall will be on Wednesday night, according to WHDH Channel 7’s forecast. Watertown is near the line between the 3-6 inches and 7-12 inches of snowfall on WHDH’s snow forecast map. Winds will not be as intense as Friday’s storm, which cause damage in Watertown including bringing down several utility poles on Arsenal Street and knocked down trees.
