OBIT: Mary Agnes Mahoney, 104, Watertown Resident, Perkins Volunteer

A Funeral Mass for Mary Agnes (MacDonald) Mahoney, 104, will be celebrated on Saturday, May 16, 2015, in the Church of Saint Jude, Waltham. 

Mrs. Mahoney, a daughter of Boston Police Officer Daniel L. and Mary Ellen (Donovan) MacDonald, was born in Dorchester. The family moved to Watertown when she was a child, and Mrs. Mahoney graduated from Rosary Academy High School, Watertown. She was a retired Telephone Operator for New England Telephone and Telegraph Co. (now Verizon) and a Life Member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. She was a former volunteer at the thrift shop for the Marist Sisters of Waltham, a former volunteer at the Perkins School for the Blind, and a daily communicant at Saint Jude Church.

OBIT: Ida Elizabeth Pallone, 88, Watertown Resident

Pallone, Ida Elizabeth of Watertown died on May 2, 2015, at the age of age 88. She was the beloved daughter of the late Philip & Philomena (Zaccagnini) Pallone. Devoted sister of the late Mary, Ralph, Antoinette, Dominic, Carmine, Rocco and Nicholas Pallone. Also loved by many nieces and nephews. OBIT: Robert Whitney, 88, Veteran, Printer, Devoted Rotary Member

Robert Whitney, 88, of Watertown, died peacefully in the early morning hours of Monday, April 27 at the VA Hospital in Bedford Mass, resting among family, friends and fellow veterans. He is survived by Sylvia King Whitney, his beloved and loving wife of 64 years, their daughter Jacqueline (Paul ) and granddaughters Christie and Hayley, as well as his brother J. Malcolm Whitney (Edith), and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, many of whom remain in the greater Boston area. Robert and family are well known in Watertown circles, as the Whitney family first arrived in Watertown in 1634. He and Sylvia met at Watertown High and have been together ever since, punctuated by Robert’s enlistment in the US Army Air Corps towards the end of World War II. While Malcolm had already been deployed to the South Pacific,  Robert’s unit  “defended Texas from the Japanese,” as he liked to say.

OBIT: Joseph McHugh, 86, Watertown Resident, Korean War Vet

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday May 2, 2015 at 9 AM in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown for Joseph Patrick McHugh. Mr. McHugh, a son of the late Patrick and Nora (Holland) McHugh was a life-long resident of Watertown. Joseph passed away in the Tufts Medical Center, Boston on Thursday April 30, 2015 after a brief illness. He was 86. He enjoyed sixty-one years of marriage with his soul mate and best friend Margaret “Peg” (Sweeny) McHugh of Cambridge.

OBIT: John Blickenstaff, Watertown Resident, Loved Hockey

John J. Blickenstaff, Jr., of Watertown, died suddenly on Feb. 4, 2015. Known to his friends as “Blick,” John  grew up in Watertown and went to school in Watertown. He played basketball, football, and was a active member of Watertown youth hockey. He played for the Watertown traveling team for many years.

Cecilia O’Keefe, 84, Lifelong Watertown Resident

The following obituary was sent to the Watertown Town Clerk’s office. Cecilia Ann O’Keefe, wife of the late John O’Keefe and mother of Rachel went to meet the Lord on Jan. 19. Cecilia was born in Watertown on June 22, 1930, and lived in town all of her life. She was known to visit the Watertown Mall every day and was liked by all.

OBIT: Mary Ellen Koumjian, 95, Active Member of St. Jude’s Church

A Mass of Celebration for Mary Ellen (Howard) Koumjian will be held on Thursday January 15, 2015 in the Church of St Jude, Waltham at 10:30 a.m.

Mrs. Koumjian, a daughter of the late Martin J. and Ellen (Cullinan) Howard, died peacefully in the Armenian Nursing Center, Jamaica Plain. January 15, 2015 at the age of 95. Born in Somerville, she was a proud 1937 graduate of Girls High School, Boston. After marrying her husband John, they moved to Watertown where they raised their children. Mary Ellen was a member of St. Jude’s Sodality, St.
