James Patrick “Jimmy” Ryan died on December 22, 2016, at the age of 60. 

He was the much loved son of the late Watertown Police Lt. James E and Phyllis H Ryan. Cherished brother to Phyllis “Sandy”, Linda, Marsha, John, Judy and Peggy. Caring nephew, uncle, cousin, brother–in-law and friend. Jimmy grew up in Watertown and was a graduate of WHS class of 1975. Born with a free spirit, Jimmy followed the road less traveled but always with a steady compass that would lead him home along a path filled with memories of family and friends.

A celebration for the life of Rose M. (Yannino) DiZacomo will be held on Monday January 30, 2017 in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown at 11 a.m.

Mrs. DiZacomo passed away in her home on Wednesday morning after a long period of declining heath. She is a daughter of the late Frank and Maria (Parise) Yannino. She was 85. Born in Roxbury, her family moved to Newton, then to Watertown at a very early age. She attended Watertown Schools.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Patrick Church, Watertown on Friday at 11 a.m. for Muriel A. (Gravel) Gildea. Mrs. Gildea, a daughter of the late Eugene and Aurore (Valois) Gravel, passed away in the Belmont Manor Nursing Center after a period of declining health. She was 88. Born in Woonsocket, R.I., Muriel graduated from St. Patrick High School, Watertown.

Mary Rose Saia (Ambrose) of Watertown, age 90, passed away on January 18, 2017. Beloved wife of the late Albert Leo Saia. Loving mother of Diane S. Hergenrother-Schecter & her husband Steve of Port Washington, N.Y. and Karen M. Damgaard & her husband Scott of Waltham. Loving grandmother to Max Hergenrother & his wife Jeanean, Brian Clark & his wife Kate, and Albert Clark. Doting great-grandmother of Grant & Kole Hergenrother.

Rev. William A. Longman, 86, of Watertown died on January 11, 2017, at Mt. Auburn Hospital of congestive heart failure. He was born in Chicago on June 2, 1930, to Rev. C.W. and Blanche Secor Longman, and grew up in Waukegan, Il., St. Louis, and Springfield, Il. He graduated from Drake University in 1952, where he met his wife of 63 years, Leonta (Lee) Morrison.

Cecilia M. Franchina (Koresky) of Watertown, a retired WHS school secretary, died January 15, 2017 at the age of 94. Mrs. Franchina was born and brought up in the West End of Boston. A Girls’ High and Boston Clerical School graduate, she was employed by the Army Corps of Engineers during WWII. After her marriage to Joseph in 1946, she moved to Watertown in 1951 and lived there ever since. After the passing of her beloved husband of 66 years, Mrs. Franchina is survived by her two sons, Paul and Rose of Alabama, and Alfred and Cherly of Watertown; grandchildren, Christine (Brian) Fingado, and Sheila (Alan) Chandler, both of FL; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Hunter and Skylar; and extended family members Eric, Jolene, Molly and Monica; Shannon, Ryan, Arianna and Ryder; Travis; Mark; Michael and Trinity.

Violet M. Clark (Joslin), known to family and friends as Vi, (age 90) passed away on January 10, 2017. Loving mother of Richard Corfield and Bruce Corfield (deceased), mother-in- law to Ellen and Elaine, grandmother to Shannon, Megan, and Brian, and great-grandmother to Colby, Clayton, and Thomas. Preceded in death by her husband Gerald Clark, and sisters Rita Kimball and Gloria Pollier. Vi received her Nursing Degree from Heywood Memorial Hospital, and spent many dedicated years working at Mount Auburn Hospital and Charlesgate Manor Nursing Home. She was a long-time Watertown resident and member of St.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated for Winifred T. (Aucoin) LaValle in St. Luke’s Church, Belmont on Monday January 9, 2017 at 9 a.m.

Mrs. LaValle, a daughter of the late Eustade & Mary Agnes (Flemming) Aucoin passed away on Tuesday evening in the Watertown Health Care Center. She was 96. Winifred was born Waltham, graduating from St. Mary’s High School.
