A visitation will be held on Thursday March 16th, 2017 in MacDonald Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home from 4 to 7 p.m. for Georgina M. Spence. Ms. Spence passed away in Cambridge on Friday morning after a period of declining health. She was the daughter of the late George R. Spence, Sr. & Betty M. Spence (Smith). She was 67. Born in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Georgina moved to Watertown at a young age.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated for Shirley B. (Hanson) Urquhart on March 3, 2017 in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, Watertown at 11 a.m.

Shirley was a daughter of the late Harry & Bertha (Lowe) Hanson. She passed away on February 28, 2017 surrounded by her family after a brief period of declining health. She was 96. Shirley was a life-long resident of Lexington. She graduated from Lexington High School, class of 1938.

A Funeral Mass for Judith Ann Maurer will be celebrated on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 9 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick in Watertown. Judith Ann Maurer passed away at the age of 75 on Monday, February 20, 2017 after a long illness. She was the loving daughter of the late Henry A. Maurer & Florence T. (Harrington) Maurer. Dear sister of Paul A. Maurer, David H. Maurer, and Janet Maurer Heitmiller.

OBIT: Mary MacRae, 86, Loving Mother, Worked as Banker

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday February 25, 2017 in St. Jude’s Church, Waltham at 10:30 a.m. for Mary F. (Harrington) MacRae. Mrs. MacRae passed away in her home on Feb. 21, 2017 after a long period of declining health. She was the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Rose (McCarron) MacRae. She was 86.

OBIT: Mary Ann McCarthy, 72, Former Watertown Resident, Nurse in Boston Hospital

A Funeral Service for Mary Ann (Mastrangelo) McCarthy will be celebrated in the MacDonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home, Watertown on Saturday morning at 11 a.m.

Mrs. McCarthy died at the Putnam Farms Long Term Care in Danvers on Wednesday morning after a long battle wit ALS. She was 72. A daughter of the late Dominic and Camille (Cannata) Mastrangelo, she and her late husband Jimmy were long time Watertown residents before moving to Weston. Mary Ann was a Registered Nurse, working at the Boston Medical Center in the Renal Dialysis Unit, she wrote procedures for dialysis patients. She also volunteered at the Counsel of Aging in Weston.

OBIT: Olga Carito, 88, Taught Math at WHS, Worked at MIT, Ran Inn in Maine

Olga F. (DiIanni) Carito of Watertown and Boothbay Harbor, Maine died on January 27, 2017 at the age of 88. Olga was born in Boston in the Italian community of the North End. She entered elementary school only speaking Italian, but went on to graduate from Girls’ High School and Emmanuel College. After graduating from college, Olga became a “computer” at MIT where she led a team of mathematicians, many, women, working on the calculations for scientific experiments. One day they took her team to the auditorium and demonstrated their project: what was to later become the laser.

OBIT: James Ryan, 60, Watertown High Graduate, Free Spirit

James Patrick “Jimmy” Ryan died on December 22, 2016, at the age of 60. 

He was the much loved son of the late Watertown Police Lt. James E and Phyllis H Ryan. Cherished brother to Phyllis “Sandy”, Linda, Marsha, John, Judy and Peggy. Caring nephew, uncle, cousin, brother–in-law and friend. Jimmy grew up in Watertown and was a graduate of WHS class of 1975. Born with a free spirit, Jimmy followed the road less traveled but always with a steady compass that would lead him home along a path filled with memories of family and friends.

OBIT: Rose DiZacomo, 85, Gardener, Elvis Fan, Worked at BU Bookstore

A celebration for the life of Rose M. (Yannino) DiZacomo will be held on Monday January 30, 2017 in the Church of Saint Patrick, Watertown at 11 a.m.

Mrs. DiZacomo passed away in her home on Wednesday morning after a long period of declining heath. She is a daughter of the late Frank and Maria (Parise) Yannino. She was 85. Born in Roxbury, her family moved to Newton, then to Watertown at a very early age. She attended Watertown Schools.
