The Watertown Farmers Market announced its guests for July 5. The Market is open form 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Arsenal on the Charles. Market organizers sent out the following information:

With sizzling temperatures this week, the market will have cool, tasty treats and plenty of items for the grill. Because why turn on the oven? Hooked Fish Shop has fresh fish for the grill and smoked fish for easy put together meals. We are thinking grilled salmon topped with Sa’s Homestyle Sauce!

Boston Magazine Highlights Watertown Restaurant’s Cocktails

La Bodega, a recent addition to the Watertown restaurant lineup, made Boston Magazine’s list of places to grab a tropical cocktail. At the restaurant founded by Chef Gabriel Bremer and his wife Analia Verolo, some drinks are prepared at the table and finished by dissolving cotton candy into their caipirinha, a Brazilian drink. The restaurant features a Uruguayan and Basque food, and offers other South American libations. Watertown Farmers’ Market Adds Nearly a Dozen New Vendors for 2018

The Watertown Farmers’ Market begins Thursday, June 7, and will feature many new vendors, including bakeries, ice cream, composting and bicycle checks. Many vendors will appear each week at the Farmers’ Market, others biweekly, and guest vendors will not be there each week but will make periodic appearances. The market is open from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays through June 7 to Oct. 18, 2018, rain or shine. The market will close at 6 p.m. after Labor Day.

Watertown Farmers Market Returns Soon With Extended Hours

The Watertown Farmers’ Market returns on June 7 and in 2018 they market will open earlier and go later. 

Once again, the Farmers’ Market will be held on the green at the Arsenal on the Charles (Corner of Arsenal Street and Kingsbury Avenue) in front of Panera Bread. The market will be open an extra hour — opening half an hour earlier and running half an hour later than last year. The market will features entertainment, and will have tables featuring community groups. Organizers seek more entertainers, community groups and would like volunteers (see details below). The market runs from June 7 to Oct.

Watertown’s Sandwich Shop Turned Destination Dining Spot is Closing

One of Watertown’s most well known culinary spot, which has has has also been a neighborhood sandwich shop since the ’80s, will be closing it doors. 

Paul Maslow started Strip T’s, on School Street, in 1986 and specialized in soups, sandwiches and other comfort foods. Then in 2011, his son Tim brought high-end cooking techniques learned in New York to the restaurant and began a dinner service that attracts people from around the Boston area. On Monday, the Boston Globe reported that Strip T’s will be closing. Paul said that after being a hot dining spot for a few years, business has been inconsistent more recently. La Bodega Brings Tapas, South American Cuisine to Watertown

The owners of one of the Watertown’s latest culinary additions seeks to combine the food of two far off locations to town, featuring high-quality ingredients in a laid back setting. Chef Gabriel Bremer and his wife Analia Verolo opened La Bodega by Salts in Watertown quietly earlier this year, and serve dishes from the South American nation of Uruguay and Basque country. Though currently in a soft opening, the restaurant welcomes diners four nights a week. Bremer and Verolo met in Portland, Maine, where they were part of the founding team of Fore Street. For a decade, the couple ran Salts in Cambridge, a fine-dining restaurant featuring modern French and Spanish food with only a handful of tables.

The Eat Well program is open to all Watertown residents and offers hands-on experience and fun with a focus on Watertown’s diverse ethnic cuisine. The Last Watertown Farmers’ Market of the Year Coming Thursday

As the end of October approaches, so does the end of the season for the Watertown Farmers’ Market and there are some special events this week. 

The final market of the year will be held from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26 on the green outside Panera Bread in the Arsenal on the Charles. Organizers of the Farmers’ Market sent out the following message:

Thank you all for coming to market this year — What a wonderful season. Please join us this week for the last market packed with activities including face painting, raffles, and delicious, local food! Come celebrate the end of the season with us, stock up for the next several weeks, and thank the vendors who make it all happen.
