Wordle Paintings Will be on Display at Watertown Art Gallery

Watertown gallery Storefront Art Projects will display Wordle paintings by Jeanne Williamson Ostroff from Jan. 4-25. There will be a reception on Saturday, Jan. 4, from 1-4 p.m.

Storefront Art Projects provided the following details:

Jeanne Williamson Ostroff works with patterns and boundaries inspired by construction fences, charts of her daily walks, and Wordle puzzles from the 

New York Times. She uses a combination of printing; painting; collage; and stitching; on vintage tablecloths and other fabric, in mixed-media pieces that range in size from 6 inches to 35 feet.

The new year is here, for some bringing hope, perhaps of a new grandchild or a serious commitment to the keto diet, for others it comes with much trepidation, of those same things. In any case, there are some fun things to do this weekend in town. After a day of rest and then only a couple of workdays, let’s all get back out there on the weekend and enjoy life’s local pleasures. The Armenian Museum of Art is open and free this weekend. I love the current Tsitoghdzyan show.

WEEKEND FUN: Nutcracker on Stage & on Screen, Vintage Market, Jingle Jam & Yoga

I am returning from an extended vacation and a visit from COVID with a very Christmas-themed Watertown weekend, my apologies for missing the Chanukah party last weekend. This weekend Watertown is digging into Christmas seriously with both a movie and a live performance of the Nutcracker. The performance at the Mosesian Center is a ballet that takes a different twist on the story. The film of a traditional ballet performance is at the Majestic 7. At Grace Chapel on Sunday afternoon, there is a kid-focused Christmas party, and at Arsenal Yards, a cool pop-up market for buying sustainable locally made gifts.

Artist Selected to Create Mural Celebrating Artist Arshile Gorky

“100 Years of Arshile Gorky” digital mural rendering by Brandon Gaia Marshall, 2024. Part of the selected mural proposal that will wrap both sides of the Grove Street underpass on the Watertown-Cambridge Greenway in Spring-Summer 2025. The artist who will create a mural celebrating Watertown artists Arshile Gorky has been selected by the Watertown Arts and Culture Committee. See details in the announcement from the City of Watertown, below. After a public meeting on November 18th, the Watertown Public Arts and Culture Committee (PACC) is excited to announce that artist Brandon Marshall will paint his mural design at the Grove Street underpass on the Watertown-Cambridge Greenway.
