See what’s in store for this year’s Merry Mingle, formerly the Whoville Jubilee, at Watertown’s historic Commander’s Mansion. See the list of activities provided by the City of Watertown, below. There are many activities planned for “The Merry Mingle” hosted at the Commander’s Mansion, located at 440 Talcott Avenue, on December 1, 2024, from 4-8pm! Free guest parking is available in the East Garage on Kingsbury Ave and a shuttle will be provided by Flett Co.  Handicap parking, ramp entry, and elevator access is available on site.

The winter light show known as SOLSTICE returns to Mount Auburn Cemetery in December. See more details about this year’s event provided by the the Cemetery, below. This December, experience the wonder of winter nights reimagined at Mount Auburn Cemetery’s SOLSTICE: Reflections on Winter Light, running from December 7-21, 2024. Presented by the Friends of Mount Auburn Cemetery and brought to life by artists MASARY, this outdoor, evening event has become a must-see tradition in the Greater Boston area, offering immersive light and sound artwork installations that blend art, remembrance, and nature in a uniquely meaningful way during the winter solstice. SOLSTICE represents an evolution of the beloved Candle Lighting Ceremony, which has been a part of Mount Auburn’s history since 1992.

Weekend Fun: Art Sales, Children’s Theatre, Wine Tasting, D&D and More

Thanksgiving is not quite here, but this Saturday holiday sales are starting, and they look quite interesting. Saturday morning, you can indulge in the pleasures of beautiful pottery at the Indigo Fire Pottery sale. That afternoon, a show of local artisans is being hosted at Get Lively, and it also features Provincetown artist Joan Pereira. That looks well worth checking out. When the art show ends, there’s a free Croation wine tasting at Gordon’s Fine Wines and Liquors.

Mosesian Arts Newest Show Focuses on Art Inspired by Science

Gore Place Hosting Music for the Holly Days

The following announcement was provided by Gore Place:

On Wednesday, December 18 at 7:30 p.m., Gore Place, the historic site in Waltham and Watertown, will offer Music for the Holly Days, a concert of traditional tunes by Waltham’s own Moody Street String Band. Moody Street String Band will offer Celtic, traditional, and seasonal tunes to ring in the holidays! Don’t miss what has become a Gore Place tradition! The concert will take place in the beautiful 1793 Carriage House. Tickets are just $21 and should be purchased in advance as the capacity is limited.
