Two Local Leaders on Chamber’s Panel for Most Influential Business People of Color

The leader of a Watertown-based theatre company and a vice president at Tufts Health Plan will be a panelists for the Newton-Needham Regional Chamber’s 50 Most Influential Business People of Color event. Michael Bobbitt, who took over as artistic director at NewRep in August 2019, will be one of five people on the panel at the event that will take place virtually on Nov. 12. He will be joined by Juan Lopera, vice president of marketing and Rhode Island Medicare at Tufts Health Plan, headquartered on Mt. Auburn Street.

Health & Fitness Businesses Highlighted by Local Biz Group

In a time when gyms, exercise studios and other health and fitness business are struggling, a local business group have made it easy for Watertown residents to find local options. The Watertown Business Coalition has put a tab on its webpage (watertownbusinesscoalition.com) linking to nearly 50 health and fitness providers in Watertown. Rich Baez, who works at Boston Specific Chiropractic in Watertown Square, hopes the tab will help both local businesses and residents. “The health tab is really a great option for the community to get together and support each other,” Baez said. “A lot of businesses today are struggling to stay open or leverage their dollars smartly.”

Bluebikes Opens New Station at Arsenal Yards, Officials Say Bike Share Has Had a Good Start

The recently installed BlueBike station outside Arsenal Yards. Bikeshare company Lyft Bluebikes opened its latest docking station at Arsenal Yards with some fanfare last week. It is the fourth in Watertown with three more planned, and Town officials say they have already drawn a lot of interest. The first Bluebike station in Watertown opened in August, as part of a five community expansion, which also included Newton and Arlington. Three of the Town’s stations in are on public land, but four will be located on private property, said Laura Wiener, Watertown’s Transportation Planner.
