Josephine A. “Jo” (Lauricella) Quirk went to her rest peacefully surrounded by her family on Sept. 5, 2015, at her residence in North Providence, R.I., after a long illness at the age of 84.
Born July 25, 1931 in Waltham, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Katherine V. (Romeo) Lauricella. She was the beloved wife of John P. “Jack” Quirk for 57 years before his death in 2008. She is predeceased by her youngest son, Gary R. Quirk.
She grew up in Watertown working in the family store, Lauricella’s Spa. Jo graduated from Watertown High School (class of the 49ers) and Katherine Gibbs School in Boston. She had resided in Watertown for over 50 years, moving to Falmouth in 1983 and later to North Providence in 2006.
Jo was vice-president of the Watertown Firefighter Wives as well as being involved with Cub Scout Pack 262 and the Marshall Spring School, as a Den Mother and president of the PTA. She later worked as a hostess at the Red Coach Grill in Newton where she took pride each day graciously greeting guests, none more so than her adored BC Eagles and Doug Flutie. While in Falmouth, Jo was an Administrative Assistant at New Seabury Country Club in Mashpee.
Together, Jo and her husband Jack, were active volunteers for over 20 years with the Muscular Dystrophy Labor Day weekend shows in Boston.
She was the loving mother of John A. Quirk of Bourne, MA, Robert B. Quirk and his wife Debra of Watertown, Brian M. Quirk and his wife Sharon of North Providence; devoted grandmother of Daniel B. Quirk, Patrick J. Quirk and Victoria J. Quirk; beloved sister of Anne Miller; caring aunt to many nieces and nephews; and a devout Catholic.
Funeral services will be held from the Macdonald, Rockwell & MacDonald Funeral Home 270 Main Street, Watertown, MA on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30am in the church of Saint Patrick, 212 Main St., Watertown.
Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home on Wednesday 4-8 p.m.
