The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
Nov. 21, 2 p.m.: Police went to the home of a man they knew was wanted on warrants. The 20-year-old Watertown man was arrested on four warrants: one from Brookline District Court for shoplifting and vandalizing property; one from Cambridge District Court on two counts of breaking and entering and one count of larceny from a boat; one from Brighton District Court for one count of resisting arrest and seven motor vehicle offenses; and one from Roxbury District Court for shoplifting.
Nov. 22, 8:35 p.m.: A man was seen in the electronics section of Target taking a pair of Beats Solo 3 Headphones, cutting open the packaging and concealing the headphones in his backpack. He attempted to leave the store without paying. The headphones cost $299.99. The 30-year-old Newton man was arrested on charges of larceny over $250 and unlawful deactivation of a security device.
Nov. 24, 3:50 p.m.: Target security spotted a woman take a tote bag off the shelf, remove the tag and put a PlayStation4 game in the bag. She went through the registers and paid for some items, but not the tote bag or PS4 game. They were worth $84.99. The 33-year-old Brighton woman was arrested on a charge of shoplifting by asportation.
Nov. 25, 10:35 p.m.: A witness called police to report a man who looked intoxicated stumbling around a car in a commercial parking lot on Parker Street. When police arrived they saw the man driving away. They stopped him and detected an odor of alcohol coming from him. The man took five field sobriety tests and failed all of them. When searching the man’s car, police found an open bottle of Port wine. After officers got the man to the Police Station they found the prescription opiate suboxone on him for which he did not have a prescription. The 56-year-old Dorchester man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and possession of a Class B drug.
Incidents
Nov. 20, 5:50 p.m.: A Fayette Street resident reported a vehicle had been broken into. It was parked overnight and the owner came out in the morning and found someone had tried to pry open the glove box. No items were taken. The car had been left unlocked.
Nov. 23, 7:10 p.m.: A resident of Repton Circle left a walker and a grabber in the parking garage when she left at 11 a.m. and when she came home at 6 p.m. both items were gone. The walker was worth $140 and the grabber $10.
Nov. 25, 3:10 p.m.: An elderly woman reported she was on her computer when she got a message saying her computer had a virus. She called the phone number in the message and the person said he could fix the computer for $2,500. The woman sent the money, and then realized it was a scam so she notified her bank. Police are investigating.
Nov. 25, 5 p.m.: A man was spotted walking around the Pleasant Street Stop & Shop and putting items into a carriage and tried to leave without paying. The man said he had paid for the items and left the receipt in the car, but could not produce a receipt. He had $189.67 in items. The 50-year-old Waltham man was summonsed to Waltham District Court on a charge of shoplifting over $100.
Nov. 26, 10 a.m.: A man in his 20s came to the Police Station to report a credit card fraud. The man got a call from a person saying he was from a company in Georgia who had seen his resume online an wanted to hire him to open a branch of the company in the Boston area. The two exchanged about 40 emails and the man was told he should purchase eight $2,000 in gift cards and send them to a third person because it had something to do with starting the job. The man sent a total of $16,000 in gift cards. Then he realized it was a scam and reported it to police. Officers tried to contact the person from the company by email, but the account was down and the company’s website no longer exists.
Nov. 26, 4 p.m.: A man parked in the garage at the Gables apartments on Nov. 25 at about 10 p.m. and came out the next day to find his Audi was missing all four wheels and tires, and the car was sitting on plastic crates. Police located a witness who was walking through the garage the previous day and saw two men removing tires from the car in a hurried manner. He said they had a light colored mini van backed into the space next to the Audi. The men were described as either African-American or Hispanic who wore “workout type clothing” including hooded sweatshirts. The man did not call police at the time. The wheels and tires are worth a total of $4,000.
Nov. 26, 6:30 p.m.: A man brought his daughter to a party at Launch Trampoline Park at about 3 p.m. and when they came out at about 6:30 p.m. he found his vehicle had been rummaged through. A Kindle tablet, $10 in loose change and eye glasses were taken. The car was locked but a window had been left slightly open.
