The following information was provided by the Watertown Police Department.
Arrests
Oct. 17, 5:26 p.m.: An officer patrolling on Arlington Street spotted a vehicle being driven by a person he knew to have a suspended license due to an OUI pass by. The officer radioed in to have other officers be on the lookout, but the same vehicle came back in the opposite direction so the officer pulled the vehicle over. The driver had a strong odor of alcohol and showed signs of intoxication. The driver failed field sobriety tests and the 34-year-old Watertown man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving after a having his license suspended.
Oct. 18, 10:57 a.m.: Police received a report of a vehicle being driven erratically on Mt. Auburn Street and an officer spotted a car fitting the description. The officer turned around to pursue the vehicle and when he caught up he observed the vehicle collide head-on with a work van on Mt. Auburn Street at Walnut Street. The officer checked on the driver of the car, who hit her head and needed stitches over her eye and was going in and out of consciousness. The driver of the van suffered minor injuries. The driver of the vehicle appeared to be under the influence of something and officers recovered a small bag full of white powder which is suspected to be Fentanyl but must be tested to determine what it is. The 32-year-old Braintree woman was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a Class B drug, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop and marked lanes violation.
Oct. 18, 10:15 p.m.: A car pulling out of the Watertown Mall parking lot went across Elm Street and hopped the curb, doing damage to the undercarriage, including flattening two tires. When officers spoke to the driver they suspected she may be under the influence of alcohol. She failed field sobriety tests and the 21-year-old Dedham woman was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and marked lanes violation.
Oct. 22, 12:53 a.m.: An officer patrolling on Mt. Auburn Street spotted a white Volkswagen going faster than the 30 mph speed limit. The driver turned on to Walnut Street and the officer saw the car pull into a driveway. The officer pulled up and spoke to the driver, who seemed hesitant to speak to the officer. The officer detected signs of intoxication and detected a strong odor of alcohol. The driver refused to take field sobriety tests, and he was placed under arrest. While the man was being arrested, another vehicle pulled up driven by a woman who was the man’s girlfriend. She wanted to know what was going on. As police talked to her she said she was returning from a night out but gave conflicting stories. Officers believed she too was under the influence of alcohol. The woman refused to take field sobriety tests. The 31-year-old Watertown man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and speeding. The 35-year-old Watertown woman was arrested on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Incidents
Oct. 21, 9:52 p.m.: A Putnam Street resident reported that between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. a mountain bike was stolen from his porch. The bike is a blue and white 2011 Specialized Stump Jumper that was purchased for $1,000. It had been left unlocked.
Oct. 22, 1:28 p.m.: A Woodview Way resident received a call from a credit card collection agency reporting that she owed $3,031.95 on a credit card. The person did not take out the car, which was in the resident’s name, and the incident was reported to police.
Oct. 22, 5 p.m.: A resident who lives on the Watertown/Newton line on Watertown Street said that some political campaign signs had been partially burned. The signs were for candidates in both Watertown and Newton. It appeared to be random, because no other signs in the area were disturbed.
